I have about 2500 I'd like to spend on it I've been considering a turbo but I don't know if I wanna deal with it also a lsvtec doesn't sound like a bad idea either. I'm only looking to make about 190hp something comparable to a new si my buddys is really nice to drive and I'd like mine to have that zip sorry about the giant run on sentence but I'm typing from a phone. Thnx in advance for suggestions or ideas timtim

Get yourself a new motor. 164k miles is not going to play nice with an ls/vtec or turbo. just pick up another motor and save yourself the hassle with half *** build ups. Preping your motor for a turbo or a ls/vtec is going to cost you more the 2500 if you want to compare to something like the new Si

i dont know, do you know? I am just saying as i believe many of the people in this form would say is its not worth the hassel. I means you are honest telling me that you would go ahead and invest in a motor that has 164k on it? I know honda motors are built tough but at some point even the most proper kept motor has to go sometime. Just my opinion tho.

I'm not sure the numbers the motor is pretty darn stout imho but a new motor sounds like a plan can I get a b16 and tranny installed for like 3k? I got the car with like 120k on it I've been nice to it regular oil changes stuf like that has new timing belt and all the gaskets are new. I just need more pop the motor I saw from this site had a b16 with a tranny with a lsd for like 2600 I know the b16 is sorta weak sauce but it will respond better to cheaper mods than the poor ls would and I would have fun with the shorter ratio tranny lol thanks again for the responses

if compression and leakdown numbers came back ok i would definitely boost it. as long as the maintenance is kept up with and the tune is good it wont grenade overnight.

do not downgrade to a b16 motor. go ahead with a b16 tranny though.

Lots of miles on your motor already, whats the condition of it? was it serviced and maintained correctly? Have you done a compression and leak down test to determine what needs to be replaced. I'd suggest that you save up a bit more and rebuild the motor to do an all-motor ls build or even a ls-vtec if you have all the right sources and help, or just swap out the motor entirely for a newer and lower mileage motor, like a b16, gsr, or itr. Either way you go, save up some more benjamins and you'll be set.

Well I haven't had a compression test run on it. I would say its in pretty goon condition doesn't burn oil and still has some good pull to it. It has a new timing belt and water pump new cam seals and head gasket. Oik changed every 3k all the little stuff taken care of. I'm kinda partial to just slappin a b16 in and just calling it a day and saving again and possbily turboing it instead. I'm gonna take it to the local speed shop and get a estimate in the next couple days ill post up the price lemme know if I'm getting a good deals
