Default About to paint my EJ6, what your opinions on no side door moldings, all custom flat...?

Ok so my EJ6 is getting painted within the month, im thinking of taking off those ugly stock side door moldings or whatever you call them, and get the more flat ones from the EK9 off ebay from japan or wherever you can get em, seen some auctions selling them for about 120 like:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...sting

But now im thinking maybe instead of spending around 140 shipped for damn door moldings, maybe ill just get metal (not cheap bondo ****) custom welded in there, and then sanded and all that, by a pro, and painted over, so it looks like nothing was there.

I kno normally that would cost WAY more, but the thing is the shop owner owes me alot for previous favours, and hes doing the entire job free, including any custom body **** i want, so im thinking of just going that path

Any opinions on this? have you ever seen this done? Any pictures?
Thanks

Try http://www.jdmshit.com

They have good pricing on the thin mouldings. It's a worthwhile upgrade to me. Looks cleaner/more flush.

You could get the molding recesses shaved which I've seen on ek's and It looks alright.

But if it were me, I wouldn't take advantage of the body shop guy, just have him paint it and match the sideskirts moldings.

I think the shaved moldings make the ek's look like they're missing something. If you get the thin moldings painted gloss black and the skirts paint matched it would look good IMO.

I personally hate when everything on a car isn't paint matched. I recently got my car sprayed and made sure EVERYTHING was sprayed to match.

Yes everything will be matched 100%, im just wondering, if I should color match the side door moldings, or custom wled over them, making it seem like the car never even had em, kind of a unique look i guess, anyone have pictures of this done? Just wondering how it would look. Everything will be color matched, jsut it will seem like the car never had side door moldings.

Yeah I don't like shaved moldings on an ek.

Browse for some pictures, you might not like them either.

But bottom line, it's your car.
