Strange fluid residue on the firewall??...
Just last night around 8:45pm, after a 10-15 min drive to our destination (starbucks), my cousin parked his car and popped open his hood to access the tps, because he noticed his car was bogging, and had a jumpy idle, and went to do some adjustments, as soon as he got to it, he noticed a fresh liquid substance on the firewall behind the IACV, it was like a spray bottle pattern. I touched it with my finger and looked like the consistency of engine oil mix with the dirt from the engine bay, the color was light brown like pancake syrup sort of, and had a sweet smell. I told him that his IACV might be leaking, or one of the coolant lines in that area of the IACV is leaking and pressure is squirting something out . But not really 100% sure. Anyone willing to chime in, its a crx with a b16a swap by the way. TIA!
Those coolant lines, especially the formed ones, tend to split if they aren't replaced when you install the motor. You should check all of those, but also, look at all of the brake lines... brake fluid from the booster or lines leaking is a big big problem. It wouldn't hurt to let the engine run with the hood up to see if it's spraying from somewhere.... stick a white piece of paper between the engine and firewall to see if the spray is coming from somewhere in particular.
Just check the brakes as a first step.
