Default 93 hatcback deck removal

I have a 1993 civic hatchback with a broken antenna. I know how to install the antenna, however, i dont know where the screws and tabs and stuff are to remove the deck to unplug the antenna. i dont want to crack any of my dash parts, so does anyone know how to remove the deck properly?

Sounds like it's time to go to a stereo shop and have them remove it for you. Most of the aftermarket radios have there own locking mech to hold the deck in the cage. With out the tool to remove it or knowing where the lock mech is and how it works you might brake things trying to get it out. Just pay someone the $20 to remove it for you.

Most brands use their own style of locking mechanism. When you buy a deck new it usually comes with two keys (one for each lock on each side of the deck) that release it. However not everyone gets new decks, so I figured out a little secret. I uses hack saw blades as keys and it actually works for most decks I've tried it on. Just be carefully not to actually cut anything like the stereo din or the wiring harness. Also with my hatch I found that if I remove the center console (right under the stero) and can look up and pry the locking tabs out with a jewlers flat head screw driver or a dental pick tool. Hope this helps But Instructors idea is probably best, and then you could maybe order the right keys for that deck. They can't be more than a few bucks considering they're just stamped tin metal.
