How much is an ITR shell worth?
Specifically this one. I've seen it in person, no dents or dings, interior looks good. Just a scrape on the rear bumper. How much is this worth?

Ask him what he is selling as a "shell" because he lists 2 prices, $7k for the shell but doesn't list what he means by "Shell" and lower he lists the whole car as is for $13K.
If it's just $7k minus the motor only I'd think thats a good deal.

I spoke to him about that and the shell will include the entire car minus the transmission, engine, and axles. The mounts, wire harness, and ecu will come with the car. All this car will/should need is a motor, transmission and axles.

Well start shopping around for replacement parts price wise and see if it's feasable for you. I mean I think that's a pretty good deal IMO. The whole car is in tact, original and doesn't seem to have any real damage and is not a theft recovery or salvage like others I've seen in poorer condition being sold in the past.
Drop a K20 in it and have a very healthy reliable R.

i'm guessing I can find a clean ITR motor for $4k-$5k. Exhaust for $500. The shell for $6k. That should be a clean running ITR for around $11k.
I've thought about getting a K20, but the cost and amount of work required to get one up and running just wasn't worth it to me. From what I saw it would be atleast $8k for a k20a with all the necessary things (mounts, axles, harness, shifter kit, etc), and it would require cutting off engine mounts and a hole in the floor for the shifter.

I gave my buddy a hand getting a K20 into an EF a few weeks back, of course it's just in there hanging on 2 mounts right now and it's a project and yes fabrication is required, but if you can do the labor and have the ability and tools it's not as difficult as it may seem.
If my motor blows I would seriously consider doing a K20.

the seller said he'd take $6k so I guess that makes the deal even sweeter.

IMO, 6k for a complete ITR minus drivetrain is a STEAL!!! Put a 2k GS-R swap in it until you can decide/afford the C5 or K20.

I just can't see spending that money......to cut the tranny mount....i know it isn't that big of a deal, but i don't think i could do it. Plus, i love the B series...K is better in all respects....but i've already started collecting stuff...so B series is the plan unless i find a K for half the price or someone gives it to me

oh totally understood.
At this point with mine I'm ready to experiment and build my stock motor. It's friggen prisitine with just 44K on it with only I,H&E. Now that I have all the safety and suspension sorted and buttoned down, I'm ready to start making more power. (only took 6 years)
But it's great to know that if or when I blow said happy engine, for not much more than another B series I could drop in something more potent and dare I say more bulletproof to include more power.

i once had a B16b in a EK civic before. That thing was a piece of crap. I referred to it as "the torque less wonder". personally i'd rather have a gsr motor over a ctr motor. atleast w/ that you'd have the 1.8 crank vs. the 1.6 crank.

yep
I looked at putting my b16 from my EG into the ITR shell, but didn't think that would be as much fun as the gsr motor.
B16 eg good
B16 DC bad
