i need opinions!!
I need your guys opinion!!! I have a stock b16a2 that has 106K on it, it burns oil, and its starting to get pretty bad. I have a few feasible options. since i want very lil or no down time. i only have one car, and my cycle would be my only mode of transportation while my car is down. i can....
1. buy a b18 or b20 block and put my vtec head on it.
2. buy a whole ls/vtec or gsr long block.
3. my friend has a spare b16 head and block so i could build that block and head and put it in with very little down time. what do u guys think would be my best option.
i don't need to be uber fast, just a lil quicker and reliable.
btw its going in a 99si

If it were my Si I wouldnt put just a stock B18b or B20 in there IMO. I would even get the extra B16 head/block from your buddy and build it or go with a B18c long block if you have the money. How much are you looking to spend? In how bad of shape is your current motor?
i think the rings are fried, its going through about a quart or oil every week or week and a half. i dont want to spend more than 3 or 3500....
Put a b18b longblock on your b16 tranny.
You'll have a faster car. And have spent half what you would on a b16 longblock.
Worry about ls/vtec or whatever later on.

if i put a ls block on my head and don't drill and tap it for ls/vtec what would it be called and what power would i have? would it just be like an ls?

You wouldn't put an ls block on your heaed, you'd be defying physics. You'd be replacing your existing block (whole motor) with an ls block (whole motor) And you'd have an LS.
Ls-vtec ls-shmetec. Just get a feel for it and boost it. No need to go n/a.
If you're on a budget I would go b18b (LS) or if you have the money, buy a gsr longblock.
Then part out your b16.

Whatever 30 more torque and 20 more horsepwer is.

It'll be faster in all areas, low end, top end, going up hills, etc.
