Right on, dude. I'm part shopping for a d build myself. Not a b series hater or anything I'm just not the guy that's got three grand laying around for a stock swap. ha ha Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

You've just gotta find a deal on a B-series. I rebuilt mine (forged pistons, rods, fidanza flywheel, exedy clutch, I/H/E) for right around $3,500...including full parts car

HEHe that blows. But 130 whp = about 160 bhp. Which isnt all that bad but nothing spectacular at all

Congrats to you on doing this work yourself, and accomplishing something...seriously, sounds fun.

But in all honesty, dont expect too good of numbers w/ an All-motor sohc setup. Dont get me wrong, im not against SOHC at all...i have a boosted D. However, boost is the real way to get power out of these motors. But good luck w/ everything in the meantime! : )

Btw, you shouldnt worry about slicks...its not going to really make a difference. Spend the money on a good tune so its reliable.

Well boosting is a good way to get power out of an engine it is not the only way wtq is far better then the b16's and while people will argue the trans will make up for that once again with the SOHC you can change out the final drive upto a 4.9 final drive I have seen so far so even that now has become irrelevant argument

Something else you guys I think are also dismissing is the power too weight ratio of these engines!

A 145/150whp and 117/120wtq with a final drive of 4.9

Day 2
Hone the Block
Set Pistons in
Finish the PnP
Assemble the Head
Put in Stage2 Cam
Adjust Valves
Assemble Bottom End
change oil
Spark Plugs

we started the day..well it was six...we honed the cylinder

cleaned off all the metal shavings...

we finished the Pnp
b4 it had some nasty carbon build up so we opened up the ports a lil bit clean things up

after... not bad for our first time doing it..

now we started assembling the head

cleaning up...the valves...

now we start setting in the pistons

all of the pistons are put in and torqued down to spec

then we decided we wanted the car running tonight...so we put the head onto the block

torquing everything down to spec

ready for the vc and dizzy

putting in the plugs

i last thing

ITS ALIVE!!!!!!

went down the street for gas

sohc hater....took the pic.....lol...thats my tired ***

we hope to dyno tune it..we have a p28 with a decent base map...but like i said ..all we need now is a header and a good set of slicks....we went out for a test drive at 130 in the morn...motor screams....pulls really hard in 3rd gear....not bad for two days work.... we really built this motor...to show that u dont have to go out and have someone do a swap for u...u can build on what u have....i mean we didnt spend more than 600 bucks for the build...its all really for experience....we we really shooting for 140hp to the wheels nothing to extreme ...were just trying to prove a point to all these ricers that go out and have their rich dads buy them an si......thnx for all the input guys...

pretty cool man, i would love to build my motor myself but i am scared that i might expletive it up or do something wrong. Thats why me and my shop got a hookup at the machine shop in town. But nice work man, looks like you did a really good job.
