front plate
im going to be picking up my taffy white si very soon and i live in a state that requires front plates. however on all my cars i dont ever run a front plate. im pretty sure the dealer, by law has to install the front plate bracket before delivery. so my question is, will there be any visible holes in the front of the bumper if i take the bracket off, and do they have to drill any holes to install it? if there are, do you think i could convince the dealer to not install the bracket?
The should not drill the hole because there are holes for the bracket in the grill but dealerships are retarded. They will most likely drill your bumper.
installing the front plate bracket is part of the PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) and should be done per Hondas Service Record Booklet that comes with the car. As far as leaving a hole, if the technician that puts the bracket on does it correctly there should be nothing done to the bumper meaning you can remove it and there won't be any holes. The bracket comes with two nut clips which slide into slots found in the bumper in the lower grille, 2 machine screws with washers that hold the license plate bracket to the bumper and 4 self tapping screws that screw into the license plate bracket itself to hold the license plate to the bracket. There is a hole in the middle of the license plate bracket which appears to be left for added support as the license plate bracket is not supported at the top and some technicians at my dealership are using self tapping screws which will penetrate the center of the bumper and leave a hole. I would just tell the dealership that you want to put the plate bracket on yourself.
Make sure you ask them not to use any self tapping screws and only to use the factory mounting points under the bumper...
Luckly I will be getting the hole in my bumper repaired, sanded, touched up, and a new coat of clear over it for free... (Friend of mine owns a shop)

I live in a state that requires a front plate. but at the dealer ship they didnt drill my bumper.. if anything its the 2 holes in the grill the the bracket attaches to.. there are also metal clips that slide right off
You can always go back and get the hole fixed at no charge. That's what I did, call Honda motor co. if the dealer gives you any trouble.

Why is that dumb? They're preventing the plate from scraping up the paint from the flapping plate.. Be thankful for that.

I'd rather take the front plate off, or get some silicone tubing, cut a slice down the side and mount it to the back of the bumper cover so it doesnt scratch the paint...

After multiple washes, water gets down in between the plate bracket and the bumper and it can get pretty nasty down there. Mines actually started turning yellow, but I was able to clean it off and ended up flipping my bracket upside down.
