need to know if i am making a good choice...
ok im low on money and i need to get the 212*** mile DX motor out of this car. to get to the point i am looking at the jdm d15b cheap and faster then what i got now, i will need a rywire kit for mpfi,obd1 conv, and vtec harness , now later when i have more money i know im gonna wanna go B series. can i use this same harness that i bought from rywire as long as i stay with obd1 and vtec? let me know if its a bad motor to get as a first swap. i have looked all over for a d16z6 and i cant get a hold of one. thanx
You should be able to do MPFI yourself, and if you don't think your up to OBD1, it would probably be cheaper for someone to wire it up for you. Look around junkyards for scrapped obd1 cars that you can pull the harness out of for spare parts/plugs.
the problem with that is it will looked all riged and i want it all to look clean , i dont own any sodering supplys and dont know where to get shrink wrap, plus i live in kingman all the cars in out pick a part are thrashed to hell there isent even 1 hatch in there they have 2 88 crxs and thats it lol
You can get your own soldering gun and solder from any wallmart or something similar. Shrink tube can be bought from most aftermarket parts suppliers (NAPA, Carquest, etc)
You can also buy your own wire loom, as long as you take your time then the harness should turn out looking fine.
Check ebay for any 92-95 civic wire harnesses, or even any 92+ teg, as long as it's OBD1

yeah it's a fine idea, i would just turbo the d15b later down the road, it would easily make the same if not more hp than the b16 and should make more tq. homemade turbo is pretty easy and cheap and since you’re already obd1 you could get a chipped ecu and run crome or something like that. the important thing in my opinion is to start working or the car to get to know it the more you do the more comfortable you will be and later down the road you will do much more complicated things and laugh about the time when you were wondering if a d15b was a good swap. good luck
