Because they stole the design from robocop

Its straight up a shoe with removable plates...a huge amount of plates.

"For what" would be safety. I have smx-4 and supertech boots... and it's pretty obvious which one I would rather crash in. My smx-4 boots don't look like they will protect any better than stiff leather "riding shoes". They are convenient though, just unzip the side, step in, and zip up. Supertech on the other hand is a 2 piece boot. The inner boot has a strong ankle brace, strong lining, and it laces up from the back (laces similar to your smx-plus). Then the outer boot zips up from the side, and there is a calf strap similar to a snowboard binding. Since the "low end" smx-4 is $200 and the "highest end" supertech is $300 (on ebay anyway) I don't see any reason not to invest that extra $100.

P.s. here is a pic of the inner supertech boot since not a lot of websites show it.

Don't have any exp with the sidis but I assume they are similar.

i have the vertigo corsas and i would buy ne other boot. there so comfortabe and there pretty much rebuildable if you ever crash in it. all the pieces can be ordered. also if you ride with boots for street riding there a lot more comfortable than the a stars to walk with.

when you pay more for a boot, you're paying for more safety, hopefully at increased comfort.

if you compare the vertigo corsas to say, the b-2 or the smx-4, you'll see a lot more ankle support, a lot more hard armor, and stuff that'll do better at keeping your ankles and shins and feet in one piece when you go down.

they are constructed like my daytona secures, only less money. most boots are simply junk in that they only offer abrasion resistance, and will infact come off in an accident... Scabs are really not all that important as they can graft skin from your *** to your foot. The MOST important thin riders don't realize is that you NEED torsional support, not corn flake support. this adds to cost.

WTF!?!?!?!? that makes me want to purchase boots pronto. There is no point of getting riding shoes if it is not goint to offer impact protection to your ankles.

you know what? ive had 2 friends get into some minor accidents in the fast few months and both of them got bad sprained ankles. i can now see why thats important. Im so happy i got my SMX pluses! what about a 2 piece? i have a kinda cheep 2 piece that has a 360 deg zip but it doesn't seem like the zipper would really hold up in a crash if i was sliding feet first. the zipper on the jacket was sewn to the liner vs the leather. I wish i still had my speed master jacket are the zippers normally sewn to the leather? i cant remember

All the zipper attachments I've seen zip to the liner, not the leather. Possibly makes for easier repair, as well as less expensive to make.

2piece suits hold up fine. Just remember, the equipment has to fit you. Typically, 2piece suits will bunch up a little in the midsection, especially if you tuck down.

We can't all be ballers with Daytona boots though. Helimot has Daytona Evo Sports boots, which cost about 50% the amount of Daytona Security Evo boots.

Aren't some of the higher end boots a little lighter too? I've noticed that with Sidi's at least.

I have quite a few boots including the A* Supertech. They maybe good for track riding but they're much heavier than my SMX and not as comfortable. They're also a PITA to put on and take off since you have to deal with laces, toggles, zippers, and velcro.

ive found it hard to find a jacket that fits good. I'm 6'2" 185lbs and every jacket ive had has been a little large around the mid section.

I concentrate on armor placement, that's more important that looks. In the summer a little more size is nice to have as everything gets sticky and all clingy. I've always had a hard time getting the correct armor placement in an off the shelf garment... but I understand value is important.

I have SMX+'s. I think they are okay for the price but lack ankle protection. I had an accident earlier this year where my ankle was crushed in between my bike and a truck. Probably a 30-40mph impact. Given my example is a little more on the extreme side, I did not break anything but my ankle was sprained/swollen for nearly 2 months where I couldn't move it. For a while I thought the boots did great but go squeeze the ankle area of your boot and you will see how it is kind of flimsy. If I ever get serious about riding again, I will most likely be picking up a pair of Daytona Evo Sports for $550. It's steep but to avoid the aggravation + pain I had, it seems worth it to me to have that insurance. I'm sure there are other boots out there that perform just as well for not as much as the Daytona.

These are boots that can last a lifetime, and save your lively hood, so it's really a deal for some to consider

The roo is very thin, But the Frame is Rocking... the boot is lite.
