EM1 "hickups" every second.
I don't know how else to explain this but when the car runs,it "hickups" every second. Like one one thousand - hickup, two one thousand - hickup, etc...
When it does this hickup the dash lights dim and then go back to normal. Like I said, this happens every second.
The car has a built B16 in it. It didn't do it before I deployed 4 months ago that I know of. Like a dumbass I left the battery hooked up the entire 4 months and it actually killed it to the point where it won't charge any more. I swapped out batteries and put a known good one in, and it still does it. I thought maybe something was screwy in the charging system.
Anybody have any ideas?

it might be the gas you have in it. along with fouled plugs. My car did it after i started driving it again after winter. first i changed the plugs and it only did it every once in a while. so i figured it was probably bad gas so i put 3gal. of race fuel in to top it off and it solved the problem. been good ever since. hopefully this helps you some.
The tank was damn near empty when I stored the car. I filled it up with 9.8 gallons of brand new gas yesterday, so I don't think that was the problem. Haven't checked the plugs yet, but I don't see how that could be the problem.
The weird thing is that it hickups every second at idle, but the frequency of the hickups doesn't change even when revved up to about 2.5-3K RPM. I'm going to check the plugs though just to rule some things out.
Keep the ideas coming though.

try unhooking the idle air control valve (IACV) its located on the back side of the intake manifold.
Just pull the sensor plug out, that could be it. If its doing it every second, sounds like an electronic issue.

I'm pretty sure it's something electronic because the frequency is way to regular to be something mechanical. It's literally like the second hand on a watch.
Gonna try doing the IACV thing too when I go to check the plugs. This damn car is pissing me off. Anybody wanna buy it? Built B16 ready have the **** turboed out of it.

yeah, the frequency thing is what tipped me off that it is probably a sensor. Good luck!
Just remember when you unhook the IACV its going to act funny if you try to rev up, but if it stopps the hiccup at idle, your close to figuring your problem out

you check your plugs, if fouled they will not fire properly, causing slight backfire feel...
is your dizzy leaking anything...
i think the only real way to diagnose it is to take a drive pull the plugs and observe your plugs and see what there telling you...
my guess would be..
your plugs are preigniting.....meaning you gots a melted electrode, and/or somehow debris is in your combustion chamber which would explain hickup...when most plugs are preignited they will missfire and cause some serious piston&ring damage

also it wouldnt hur to seafoam yyour car if it has not been regularly cared for, lack of oil changes etc. and maybe all your problem was build-up of carbon deposits that were robbing your car of good feul mix or causing poor flow...
but id seafoam it for sure and see...when i seafoamed my car, holy moly the overall throttle response was very smooth and improvements were incredible, better mileage, felt less boggy, and overall id highly reccomend it..
all else fails part the longblock..

damn jumping to conclusions at all??
Dont be so quick to give up.. try what everyone said and get back..
Also check the alt wires, make sure all the connections and grounds are good EVERYWHERE

Thanks again. I haven't had a chance to mess with this car yet. Been busy getting my daily driver back up and running.
Seafoam isn't needed. The motor has less than 100 miles on a brand new bullet proof build from importbuilders out in Cali.
Debris in the combustion chamber....don't think so. The car just sat for 4 months. Everything was closed up on it, so nothing could have gotten into the motor.
Plugs are only 4 months and 100 miles old as well.
As far as pulling the head off......I think not.
