Possible damage from over-revving?
okay so, today i was beatin on my em1, and as i was merging on the highway, goin about 60, i shifted into third and took it all the way to about 85ish. Then the fun part came in, i dont know why, but i always have a hard time shifting to fourth when im goin like 80ish, so as i was tugging on it, i think i went into second. i let go of the clutch for about 1 second, and the rpms ran down to about 10 k ;-), and then i pressed the clutch asap.. The car runs fine, i didnt notice any difference or anything like that, but im just wondering, has this happend to anyone, and what have i possibly damaged?
yea yea call me an idiot who doesnt know how to drive blah blah blah, but it didnt wanna get its *** in fourth :-/

is there any way of finding out without compression test, and how exactly is a compression test done?
and lets say i bent or floated a valve, whats repair$?

lets not talk about that... haha just get a compression test done

you need a compression checker, basically take out your spark plugs, put the tester in, crank the car a few times and you'll get a reading. if any of the readings seem really low compared to the other cylinders, then most likely you did some damage. From there, you'd have to pull the head off to replace the valves. does the engine still sound normal or is there anything that sounds abnormal while driving now? as for price, i'm not totally sure. depends on if you pay to have the work done or if you do the work yourself.

bad idea. Even if you think the car was fine you should've checked it out.
Do a compression test as others have said. And how the hell do you mis-shift 4th and go into 2nd? Maybe going into 3rd from 4th instead of 5th is understandable (if you're not paying attention, which has happened to me once)...

how do you guys miss shift from 3rd into 2nd? seeems impossible if you ask me, but sooooooo many people have done it. Its just straight down and you have to angle it pretty good if you want it to go into second. 3rd to 4th is the easiest gear transition
i dont know man i dont get how i did that, it seemed like i got it in fourth, i donno man, but if somethings fucked up im fucked. how much is usual price to do compression test?
i did the exact same thing im my gsr when i was racing, but i was at the top of 4th and put it in 3rd instead of 5th. i caught it but it went to at least 9k. it was scary but i dont think it damaged anything

do you know what it means to float a valve? its basically the same thing as fluttering a vave

You're a ******* troll. Get your lame **** off my website. I heard about your little fiasco last night.
Going to a dyno might be a good way to tell, but it sure as hell will be more expensive than getting a compression test done and might not show a power loss even if you bent a valve.
The only sure-fire way to see if damage was done is a leakdown test, compression test, or physically looking to see if a valve seal is loose or a valve itself bent or is was out of lash spec.
Team rs2, WTF are you talking about, most over-reving problems result in throwing rods, bent valves, etc.

I know im jinxing myself typing this, but since i got a gsr turbo waiting to go in my car, i pretty much beat the **** out the motor. I rev my single to rev limit, 7200, and slam gears. Its stock. And i downshift a different way so that adds excessive wear as well. To tell you the truth, the car still runs amazing. Your car is probably fine, just try not to do it alot.
