Default Z6 into 1997 EX, solid cel

Just dropped a D16Z6 into my 1997 EX, I have a solid cel.

I'm using all Z6 parts, distributor is repinned. I have looked over it a few times now and it's definitely correct. The car is throwing a solid cel and instantly goes into limp mode upon start up.

Vitara pistons
Eagle Rods
ZEX 59300 cam
DSM 450s

Car idles at 10.0 and 7" of vacuum, I've made the entire fuel map into the 50s and it is still extremely rich.

Seriously need help ASAP.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought whenever you had a problem the CEL was solid?

Here's an idea, figure out the code. (that means go to advanced auto parts and get it scanned, or be ingenious and use a paper-clip.)

When I said solid cel, I meant solid cel. There was no code.

It was one of two things, either the tranny ground wasn't grounded well enough or switching over to a P30 map did the trick, either way the car is sitting next to me idling at 800rpms like a dream.

Off to tune for 18psi.

Thanks though.

You're saying that the check engine light it on, like it would be with any problem, you ran the code and got nothing?

Did you use a paper clip, or a scan tool?

That's what I'm saying, we jumped the car and it was just a straight cel. Tried both a PCM tester and the good ole paperclip. I'm thinking somehow the P72 map I originally had on the chip was defect, so when I uploaded the P30 map into the ostrich the cel went away.

Meh, whatever, it works now.
