Just installed Pioneer DEH-P840MP. Now what?
I just bought and installed my Pioneer DEH-P840MP. Can someone give me suggestions on how to build a system around this unit? I have an Integra. Where the best place to install things in an Integra? Amp, box, etc
you have a good component speaker system yet? as for amp, wiring and box.. my amp(s) are mounted behind my rear seats and the box is in the hatch...power wires run down passenger side, Ai-net cables run to Ai-net processor (for most people this would be the RCA cables) and CD Changer down middle, and speaker wires run down driver side...
give a budget and what kind of system you want, what are your expectations, what type of music you listen to, if trunk space is an issue, etc.. and we can give a better reply as to what to get..

Well budget is not really an issue. I listen to pop and r&b. Trunk space is an issue. I don't want this huge box in my trunk. I still have stock speakers. I want a decent system but don't want to go overboard. Here are the spec to my radio.

Would I still need an amp?

even though price is not really an issue.. can you still give us a range of your your willing to spend? I mean I've seen systems that go for about $1,000.. then again.. I've seen systems that go for over $20,000.... my own was over $3K... so it would be helpful if you gave us a price range or budget of what your willing to spend...
I would get a nice component speaker system for the front since you still have your stockers.. you should go to a store and bring your favorite cd's (stuff you know what its supposed to sound like.. and how the song and beat goes) and listen to difference speakers in the store w/ the same CD/same track... and see which speaker produces the sound YOU like the most..
when I was a still college student and trunk space was an issue (had to move out of the dorms or apt during summers) I had a Kicker Solobaric 12" in a sub box.. it didn't take too much room and it hit pretty hard w/ my Phoenix gold amp..
your head unit provides decent power.. but I think you should get a component system and a good amp... a good clean amp will provide cleaner and more power than your unit will.. its rated at like 50Wx4 thats peak.. but RMS is probably around ~20W RMS or so.. which isn't much to drive a component system... it all ads up when you build a system.. but I think my system sounds pretty clean and hits hard... I've never heard anyone that has been in my car complain about my audio system...
btw your new head unit is pretty sweet
I haven't been in the market for car audio so I'm not sure what is out there.. probably other members can suggest some current model numbers and prices for equipment...

i don't want to spend too much since I'm not planning on living in my car. I was thinking of getting a dvd but decided not to. If I want to watch dvd I'll just put my laptop in my car or buy a portable dvd. So I guess my budget would be about 1.5 k - 2 k. Do you think I could get something decent.
yes for 1.5-2K you can get something decent .. especially since you already have the head unit... as for product recommendations.. like I said I havent been in the market for audio equipment in a while.. so I'll let others who are more up to date w/ whats out today recommend stuff for your..
