Default my system

for my 99 eclipse
i just purchased the following

Rockford Fosgate Type RF X5 700x1 amplifier $86.00
Alpine Type E 12" subwoofer SWE-1242 $49.99
Pioneer TS-A1671R 3-way 6.5 inch car speakers $20.00

I already have a panasonic head unit that im going to integrate into my new system.

I purchased Speaker Cabinent Carpeting for my trunk along with a box for my subwoofer.

This is my plan, to put the subwoofer and box and amplifier into my trunk, and have the speakers installed into the rear of my vehicle, new front speakers i will upgrade later.

If i took this to best buy without any wires for anything, how much do you think I would be looking at for the installation. or would it not be too difficult to do myself?

Thanks in advance

Best Buy will charge $59.99 for a 2 channel amp install; $34.99 for a pair of speakers. $49.99 for the deck install, plus $18.49 for the wiring harness. Amp power wire kit will be ~$80, speaker harness plugs are $6.49. And add $5 for the shop materials fee.

Can you do it yourself? That's entirely dependent on your level of comfort disassembling your car to run wires, etc...

I'm sticking with the speakers my car has already, since my bid was outbidded for those speakers, I'm going to upgrade them later.

But I'm looking at 59.99 for my amp install
and however much a subwoofer would be?
will they put it in my box for me and make sure its air tight?

another thing,
if i were to wire this myself, where do you run a wire from the head unit to the trunk?
i have a 99 mitsubishi eclipse if that helps.

Man, you can do this yourself no problem. With systems like this the hardest thing to do is learning how to disassemble your interior.

So first off, get an amp kit.

Now, easiest thing is to pull out the old front/rear speakers and replace them, boom your done.

For the amp (run the wires 1st, DO NOT attached them to the amp yet) you run a power wire from your battery all the way to the rear where you amp will most likely be installed, cut the wire within a 1ft of the positive batt terminal and put an inline fuse there with the appropriate rating.

For the ground, look for a nice bolt on the frame in the *** end of the car, scratch away at the paint or whatever and hit some bare metal, that will be the ground point.

for the remote turn on, pull out the deck and look for an accessory or power antenna wire, usually yellow or blue w/white stripe (on mine anyway) splice the remote turn on into one of those and your done. At the same time, you should hook up the RCA's as well.

So the wiring should be done, hook the ground wire up to the amp, then the power, then remote turnon/rca's. You amp should be powered. Adjust the gains, filters, frequencies and that should do er.

Hook up the sub and your set.

The thing that may get complicated for a beginner is how to wire the sub and amp, i didnt look at the sub/amp specs but im assuming is a SVC 4 ohm woofer and a basic 2 channel amp so its simple to hookup positive to positive, negative to negative

Hope it helps
