question o2 sensor
I installed a new catback exhaust system with a new cat converter and the smell that emits from my exhaust is wicked. I was wondering if this was normal for a new exhaust system or if maybe my o2 sensor could not be installed properly. Also my check engine light is still on. Do I need to reset my battery in order for it to cut out or should it do it on it's own? thanks
new cat??? Was it like a bad smell from your exhaust? How long has the smell been there? I would reset the ECU (unplugging the battery) and see if it comes up again. It sounds like the cat might be bad or the O2 sensor is just malfunctioning.
yeah it was coming from the exhaust. i just installed it today. i'm going to reset the ECU . also the port for the sensor is in a really tight spot so i might not have connected it all the way in or something. just seeing what input i could get on this. thanks. if anyone else has anything to add it would be appreciated.
shouldnt be too hard to tighten up the o2 sensor. i have this nifty tool i bought from my matco guy it was realy helpful when i changed out my o2. BTW check the o2 sensor connectors both on th eo2 and the wiring harness. On my connector one of the pins was burned off
don't ask me how. so i had to replace th eo2 sensor and the connector from the wiring harness
