ok so im ready to do a k20 swap. i know everyone is going to say "search this before you ask" when i ask this question. well i did. and i didnt find anything. i want to know for sure if i can legalize the swap? and if not is there any way around it so i keep my registration and all that good?

you need to have a car insured in order to get a car titled.

It is legal. All K20a's were built after 2001, so theres no way u can get an illegal engine.
The only way you could have problems is if u buy a k24a4 ( CRV engine) or k24a3 ( element) as its meant for a truck/suv, but any k20a/k20a2/k20a3/k24a1/k24a2 and you will be fine as long as u pass emissions.

um i believe in california, you have to used a USDM motor and the engine has to be from same year or newer then the car, i dont think a k20a will be bar'd, but others will, except suv/truck k series

You will have no problem with your registration cuz its a legal swap for your car.
When you come up for smog you'll pass, so dont worry bout it.
It sucks living in California sometimes, but the k20 swap is one that isnt gonna raise any red flags, now a k24, you would have problems with, but the k20, youre golden !!
