b18c1 rebuild,,some Q's
well i got a b18c1 engine and im gonna take it out of my hatch to rebuild it. i got ITR pistons for it, this motor is old so i dont know if its been bored already, the ITR pistons are ?? mm the rings that came with it are 81mm if the pistons are 80.5 mm will it work or will i have problems? i havent rebuilt a motor yet so im gonna try my first 1.. also cams, should i replace? if so with what? the crank is another thing, do i get it milled or whatever? if so how much and then where do i get barings that will fit it? thanks for any help, as this is my first time digging into a motor.
if you use the itr piston you'll be fine. i have jdm itr piston in my gsr, there suspose to be 81mm but when it was time to install them they where os , so the machine shop had to bore out my block jus a little bit to 81.5mm , the machine shop will clean your crank, you can still use oem bearings. you might want to get some apr rod bolts to upgrade your block, or if you planning to up rpm range.
i will be getting apr head bolts no matter what im not really trying to get it to rev more, just more power.. thus the ITR pistons, as far as main bearings what to go with? and the whole top end im trying to stay in a reasonable budget too. but as far as new cams do i need em? or can i get by with some fresher gsr's. Valves and everthing like springs what kind do i want guys?
