Default WTB: D Series Block

I wanna start small and just build up a nice reliable D series block.

I still can't decide if I wanna build up a nice D16a6 and VTEC it with some ZC pistons, etc... or if I want to start with a ZC and build that up.

So I am looking for blocks, and good conidtion parts etc.

Email me with prices on blocks, heads, etc. I wanna start this ASAP...

My email address is - PhoenixRane@aol.com

gom why do a lot of people want to waste money on a single cam! why don't you just buy a b16, cause if you build a single cam it will not be that fast, and it will cost you more money than a b16 would

I'm not really going to be racing it. I love my Civic and just want to treat it to a ncie clean motor that will last for a long time so I don't have to worry about changing this gasket or that hose every few weeks.

I've always enjoyed the D series, it nice, cheap, and will drop right in and I can do it all myself. I just don't see why I should spend 500 bucks on a mount kit, 300 on a shift linkage, 200 on ecu, distributor, etc.... when I could build a fairly stong SOHC Motor and have 0 Miles.... start from scratch so I know everything I need to know about the motor, and not have it break down. All my SOHC motors have been really reliable to me, and they all had around 150-200,000 miles on them! How about one with 0 miles! That would be a great weight off my shoulders.

Also, I said I am interested in a ZC DOHC to. I just gotta see what prices I get offered. And if anyone has some tutorials on how to rebuild a D series block, clean it up, make it all shiny, best gaskets, etc... I would really appreciate that info if you could either post a link or email it to me.

Thanks and I hope someone can help me out with some parts.

what year is your car? you can get a whole front clip with everything you need plus more for about $1300.00, the dohc zc's in the south bay area are only like $325.00

No, I don't want a front clip. My Civic runs fine for now and will be running fine until I put this motor in. I basically want to buy a block, build it a little better than stock, get the head ported & polished and a valve job. Put all new gaskets and hoses and perishable items on the motor, polish it up real nice and have a nice motor for my daily driver for the next couple of years.

Since this isn't going to cost me much, I will then have a nice reliable form of transportation. Then I can start work on my 92-95 CRVtec project that I have been wanting to do for quite some time.

But no one has some nice stuff to sell me. I know that most of you here have gotten rid of your SOHC's for your B Series motors, so that means alot of you have the parts I need.

Ya I understand man.

But remember, I'm not 'building' up a race motor. I am building a fresh D series motor so that my life will be easier without repairing stupid stuff every weekend.

Remember, there is a difference between making a fresh motor & making a race motor. I just want a nice clean engine, nice running car and good gas mileage! Oh ya, and someone to sell me some parts so I can start this project!

I have a bare ZC block if you want it. Has oil pan and crank girdle (no crank or internals). ~ 50k miles. Sleeves are perfect.

Will sell really cheap... taking space in the garage!!
