Whats the easiest way to measure rod bearing clearance without machinist tools... like i have eagle rods and plastigauge but when im ready to take the rod cap off i have to kind of wiggle it off and it smears the plastigauge.. anyone have any tips? heh..

 

take off both rod bolts, put a screwdriver in one of the holes and pry hard and slow 1 way only until it comes loose

 

Uh i would not do what the guy above me said. You thread out the bolts a little but have a good amount threaded then tap with a hammer and they will split.
