okay just pulled ,y o2 to replace it. the bung that its screwed into is stripped. is there a way to repair this without buying a new header?

 

try retaping it and if that does not work go to napa and get some heli coil

what do i re-tap it with? i already tried to screw the new one in and almost stripped the threads on it.

i have heard of the heli coil. do i just need the heli coil or do i need to buy some sort of kit like this....? <bottom of page>

Try a tuner shop that has the wideband bungs you can weld onto the exhaust. cut a hole, Make your tack welds and fill in the spots with wire.

Stick in o2 and go. Make a plate and weld over f'd up hole.

 

yeah thats the kit, i would try to retap,

the thing with heli coil tho is there is a special tap set that is for helicoil

Example: helicoil M10X1.5 does not equal regular M10X1.5

 

id rather tray and stay away from all the welding and moving the sensor.

is there any other way to tap it without buying that expensive *** kit?

taps are expensive because they are really strond and 29.99 is not bad i paid 60 for one in time of need

 

well 29 bux isnt bad. although the one i was looking it was 98 bux. do you happen to know what size tap and heli coil i would need? and you say napa has em right?

 

dunno what size just bring the O2 to them and they can check

aight... iwent to napa, and they didnt have the right size tap. they were trying to get me to buy this $100 o2 thread repair kit.

instead i went down to a local mechanic an had em do it for like 40 bux. so all is good with the o2.

but i now found out that the header is cracked quite severely. so.....who has a d series header they wanna sell me??

 

I do but xcountry shipping will kill you just hit a local salvage yard cant be more the $30 for a used one
