hey everyone,

was wondering if someone would be kind enough to let me know how to tell if the IAB's are working or not???

does the car have to be under load and will they open when the car is sitting and being revved

i just completed a swap and i want to make sure they are working

any help would be appreciated

They open at around 5800 and believe they are controlled by vacuum.

Doubt they will work sitting still but guess you could try.
A manual should tell you how to test them but I haven't messed with mine.

The IAB system only has two states:

solenoid circuit is ON, and butterflies are closed to short, high-rpm runners when RPM &lt; 5750

solenoid circuit is OFF, and butterflies are open to short, high-rpm runners when RPM &gt; 5750

The system is normally open, so the secondary butterflies are open whenever vacuum isn't being applied to them to hold them closed.

The solenoid pulses to apply vacuum to the IAB diaphram to keep the butterflies in the closed position.

If you are uncertain as to which diaphram position is open or closed, then apply another vacuum line (e.g. FPR vacuum-reference line) to the IAB diaphram and you'll see the diaphram move to the closed position.
