hondata communication error

Default hondata communication error

should my computer be able to communicate to a hondata s200 unit if the ecu is not connected to a vehicle. im trying to see if a used unit i bought has the boost option or not.

As far as I know you need it connected to the ecu.Just give Hondata a call with your serial number (s200-xxx) and they will tell you what it has turned on.I have done this a few times when looking at buying a used one.

it is connected to the ecu, but does the ecu need to be hooked into a vehicle?

ok, got my answer this is for anyone who may find this in a search further down the road.

"It must be connected to a vehicle with the key in the on position and the light on the interface box must be solid."
