oversteer/understeer
I was wondering if anyone has tried to use a diffrent rear sway bar to get a little oversteer. I know its FWD and is prone to understeer but I was just wondering if anyone was playing around with this? I would like to do some autocross on the weekend for fun nothing to seriuos but would like to join a club like the SCCA if anyone has some input it would be great thanks I live in the baltimore MD area.
Do one or two events before you modify your cars suspension. Learn and understand how the car handles completely stock. I've had some oversteer coming into the corner w/ the right amount of braking.
Things like tires and air pressure will be your greatest mods. You'll be surprised how much the car really does grip and doesn't understeer. Remember to look ahead way past where your going. Your brain remembers what you see and you can look past where you are at. Get there early, walk the course at least 4 times and meet some new people. If you get a chance, take a ride w/ and instructor or let and instructor drive your car with you shot gun. You will learn so much.
Here's something you may be interested in. I got hooked up with a few guys from my region that are also in to road race. I signed up for this even that being held at Pocono Raceway's 2.5 mile circuit. It $475 for 2 days and 4 hours of seat time. The price vs. seat time is very reasonable.

changing your rear swaybar might put you in a higher class in SCAA that you might not want to go into. I think its the street modified class where its basically no holds bars mods as in boosted NA cars, stock boosted cars w. larger turbos, etc. Personally id want to race against people with the same amount of HP and similar amount of mods but thats just me
If you're in the northeast you might as well save up and get your racing license. If I can manage to save up 4 grand, I'm spending 3 days at Skip Barber Racing down at Lime Rock Park.
I did a special event race (electric kit cars) there in high school and saw the "students" at work...speed shifting in Dodge Neon SRTs, powersliding in Dakota quad cabs, and the sweet little formula cars tearing up the track. I think they use all Mazda's now, but still sweet stuff.
If you're licensed, or in a credited car club, you can go to open track days and tear it up. I saw a few guys with vipers and carreras doing just that, serious mods on some of em.
Plus the ALMS series goes through there once a year, hopefully I get to that.
But yea, would be nice to take the Si on the track.

I have always wanted to do one of these road courses but do you ride by yourself on the track or are there other cars out there as well. I would be nervous if there were other cars out there that i would be going to slow and hold everything up, but i am definetly interested in it.

Depends on how many cars there are and then its broken down into groups. Novice and experienced. There are multiple cars on the track at once. Sign up for it. You'll have a blast.
