Default Suspension Questions

Okay, i have a 2000 ex coupe... long story short - bought used, some idiot heated the springs and compressed them, unknowingly, i bought new wheels and tires 17x7's and 205/40/17's, and i couldnt get my car aligned, and ate through several tires, just on the inside,... so i bought struts and springs from a junkyard off of a 99 civic ex coupe, and put those back on... well i'm getting tired of riding around sittin up high, so i bought new coilover springs from ebay, i know i'm cheap, but i'm a broke *** college kid..and i need help please, i should be able to get my car aligned right...without any problems, and i know i should probably get some other suspension stuff later on to further prevent anything going wrong, like control arms, or other things... is this safe that i'm just putting coilovers on my car to lower? what should i do in the future to maintain right suspension? anything would help, and sorry for such a long short story.. thanks guys

I know on the 97 there's no toe adjustment stock but they sell a kit so you can adjust that. i'd assume that if you got some new coil overs then you shouldn't have trouble aligning the car with what stock parts allow you to adjust. good luck.

new springs? I don't know how much they are, but just replace them and put the coilovers on.

Depends on how low you want to go. The lower you go, the more adjustment you would need to get the right alignment. Stock parts only let you adjust so far, so you would need to buy aftermarket A-arms etc.

I know budget is an issue, but do it right and get fresh shocks at least. Ride on your stock stuff until you can do it right the first time.

Check out tein s-techs.

They will give you a modest drop, are okay for stock shocks, and are only about $150.

i think the drop is 1.8" front and 1.7-1.6" in the back.
