Default 96 Civic EX D16Y8 FITV Plug problem

I replaced the engine(D16Y8) in my son's 96 Civic EX standard transmission with a D16Y8 that came out of a 96 Civic with an auto transmission. My wiring harness has a 2 prong plug for the citv and the citv on the replacement engine is a 3 prong. All the other plugs are the same. Is there some way to make this work? I got a 3 prong plug from the salvage yard. Can I wire the 2 wires I have to the 3 wire citv and make it work.

Help.............Ken

d16y8 doesnt have a FITV, i believe you are referring to the IACV. i have seen diagrams on how to rewire for the different plug but cannot find them at the moment.

found it https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1903898

D16Y8's (or anything OBD2 for that matter) don't have FITV's .... are you talking about the IACV?

just swap the intake manifold from your son's old motor. the automatic y8's use a 3 wire IACV and the manuals use 2 wired IACV.

Yes the IACV. My bad. The acticle you posted a thread to is for a 3 wire to a 2 wire plug. I need to go from a 2 wire to a 3. I am missing the orange wire. Can I run this wire from the plug?.......Ken

The other engine had a non oem intake with a cold air setup that ran into the fender. My son drove into some deep water and well........it broke. Bad! So I dont have the original intake for the car. And I am not going to put the non oem one back on. It was some cheap piece of junk anyway.

not intake but intake manifold the tubular looking metal piece that connects to the block and the what the intake was attached to. the ecu you are running is gonna look for a 2 wire IACV so there really is not point to switch to 3 wire because your ecu will just throw a code.
