Default Will I gain any horsepower by removing my power steering belt?

Will I gain any noticable horsepower by removing my power steering belt? Has anybody dynoed their car without the power steering belt to see how much power is gained? If so how much power?

Yep.... When I went to the dyno, a Civic Si with minor mods gained 5 WHP just by removing the PS.

I saw a peak 5hp @ 8400rpm.
Everywhere else was around 3hp or so.
This was on a B18C in a Civic coupe.

Possibly dumb question: All you have to do is take the belt off? If not, what else is involved?

As everyone has said, yes you will gain, but it's even better than that. What you'll get is increased torque over the *entire* RPM range.

You'll see the torque curve shifted up a bit on the Y axis. There are not many cheap modifications that can do this.

Is it necessary to remove the ps fluid before you remove the belt? I heard it will be harder to turn the wheel if you don't remove the fluid.
