Default flywheel?

i posted in the integra forum, but no one seem to have an answer to my question. I know that lightened flywheel is a good investment, and a lot of people say that its one of the best mod they have done. The car will accelerate much faster, but can someone back it up with any timeslips? I have searched and searched and I still cannot find andy timeslips to back it. How much time in 1/4 mile can a lightened flywheel actually shave off?? TIA

it's also dependent on what other mods you have too...

you wont gain hp or torque with a flywheel but you would be reducing the rotation mass...

You would be lucky to get .01, yes .01, not to be confused with .10.

I have had flywheels in 2 different cars, didnt notice ANY difference in 1/4 mile times.

Correct me if I'm wrong but lightened flywheels are more of a Road-racing thing eh?

You will only notice improved acceleration in the lower gears. I bought mine to improve engine response.

Believe what you will, I would never drive without a light flywheel.
Drag racing, it helps. Road racing, it helps. Street driving, it helps(alright, its just nice)
You get the idea.

I would have to agree, Steve. What I should have said is this, more road racers praise lighter flywheels, than do drag racers. Most drag racers buy them thinking they are going to gain a few tenths, and are disappointed when they do not.

i have had mine for 400 miles and i would have to say that it's essential to making a great car. rev matching and is allot easier and its just plain more fun to drive. best mod in my opinion outside of weight reduction and learning how to drive your car.

I just installed an Exedy organic w/ a 9.1 lb chromoly flywheel. Now granted, the new clutch helped, but I ran my best ET/trap speed yesterday as well as running consistently better overall times all day.

People who say it's harder to launch with a lightweight fly have most likely never driven a car equipped with one. My launch issues were related to the fact that I am pathetic at drag racing--not with the flywheel. Once I get on a road course (in a few weeks ) it should be nice there, as well.

The car roars through the gears now. It makes a revvy motor VERY revvy. Great mod.

About the flywheel thing, once again; everyone's right~
With a lightened flywheel, you lost torque ( how much depends on how light your flywheel is ). It can be good and you will feel the flywheel and the loss in torque but let me tell you one thing. I am sure every flywheel owner out there agree's with this. When you're zipping around the Expressway with a flywheel in 5th gear, its soo awesome cause on most cars, 5th gear is very slow on the highway. If you're trying to pick up speed to pass someone, it doesn't really need a downshift in some situations. Most of the time you just floor it and you feel the car pick up faster. If you're looking for quarter mile times, you're not gonna find a very big improvement if any but if you're into road racing, it helps the rev's drop faster when you're match revving during the compression braking. Here's an example.
Get in your car and pop it in first gear and redline it. INstead of pulling it out of gear, just let off the gas, the car's going to get jerky and stuff and eventually slow down to a complete stop. After you get the flywheel installed, your rev's will drop much faster therefore when you do that again, your car is going to stop faster due to compression braking. Compression braking is just another way to slow your car down aside from gravity and your brakes.
