im sure this has been covered a thousand times, but i tried searching through the forum and didn't get an answere. I have a 5th gen, what is the prob with going with a 8 or 9 pound flywheel. i hear to stick with a 12/13 pound flywheel. what is the factory weight as well??

thanks

well you should probably look up "fidanza flywheel" and you might have your answer...

but in short, you won't feel the difference. end of story.

The problem is if you go too light,u lose too much recipicating mass to spin the flywheel at high rpms when the torque dips off.It can cause you to have problems in higher gears on any steep grades, that kind of stuff.

There is no problem running 8 or 9 lbs flywheel, so go with it. Don't go with 12 or 13 lbs whatsoever. You will regret and it won't make that much difference comparing to stock. I've been running Clutchmasters 9 lbs flywheel for almost 3 years now, and I have to deal with ATL heavy traffic everyday. It is very drivable, stock like.

yes lets just keep up the hersay...

thats why civics run 6lb flywheels huh? so tell me, why do ppl want lighten crankshafts? for your logic, we should have heavier flywheels to "keep recipricating mass to spin the flywheel at high rpms when the torque dips off"

give me a break dude

give the guy a break, he's trying

and to the OP i doubt you "searched" because this like you said, has been covered numerous times. there are plus and minuses to both sides, it's basically what you want out of it.

alot of drag cars need the extra weight to help get the car off the line. You can do basicly the same thing even with a light flywheel but you'll have to slip the clutch more

See, this is like the "earth is round" versus "earth is flat" argument. Someone is probably right but there's no way to figure out who it is.

(p.s. light flywheel for the win. If you can't launch your car with a light flywheel, it's a driver problem.)

i get what you are comparing too. but if you can actually calculate that the earth is round using physics. (nerd for knowing this)

plus, if it was flat, we would all have to fall off sometime and we could see 3000 miles away
