97 accord lx 4cyl

at random times when driving sometimes weeks apart sometimes minutes the car shuts off and signals and hazards lose power..the car can be restarted while moving right after it turns off. When i put the key in and turn it to start sometimes the lights like srs and everything that comes on dont and i think that has something to do with the problem anyone know what could be wrong?

 

if everything is losing power then it could be your alternator going bad..that would be my first guess..theres a lot of things that could be wrong there though..it could be the alternator or something to do with the ignition switch or something..go to autozone and get your alternator tested and see if thats the problem..thats what it sounds like to me but it could be something totally different

 

the reason i dont think its the alternator is because this problem has been going on for about 6 months and i havent fixed it? could it be a fuel pump?

 

Check the ignition switch on the other end of the key cylinder...

 

Yes, the ELECTRICAL part of the ignition switch could be the problem.
