Default Do I need a controller? Help me out here, please.

Ok, so I am in the process of adding gauges to my SI. I have the gauges I am installing, which are:

PLX Wide-band A/F
Defi Blue Racer Boost
Defi Blue Racer Oil Pressure

The PLX A/F gauge has it's own controller and sensor so I think I am good on that gauge, but I am not sure about the other two. My mechanics told me a needed a controller for the "gauges" so they could be properly calibrated, but he was not specific as to which gauge.

I have sent a few emails out asking the question, but can't seem to get an answer.

Do I need a controller for the two Defi gauges or was my mechanic referring to the A/F gauge only?

Thanks in advance.

This is the controller that you'll "need" for the Defi gauges

Allows you to calibrate, record up to two minutes of activity, play back high/low points, adjust peak levels, etc.

if you bought defi link gauges then you need the controller. defi does make standalone gauges but i dont know if thats what you got.

Dynospot Racing. Lawrence is awesome with Honda's and Acura's. He is very meticulous in everything he does and keeps current on everything Honda is doing. in regards to the Engineering of the K20 and K24 engines.

You are right. They can be used as stand alone gauges, but I am going to use a controller anyway. This way, if I choose to change gauges I already have the controller.

As soon as I have them mounted, I will post a pic. I am still working on the mount and installation.

heres a pick of them in my supercharged hatch. They DO NOT NEED the Defi link controller. They are the only guages offered by Defi that do not need them.

That looks nice.

I was working on a dash console but the shops that do that type of work wanted $1,500 to do a custom panel. Until someone releases an aftermarket panel, I will live with a pillar mount. We are going to install a short chain inside the panel so if the side curtain airbags blow, the panel and the gauges will blow up, out the way (towards the windshield), instead of in my face.

Once a decent dash panel for gauges is released, I will dump the pillar mount. I have an extra stock pillar garnish so I can restore the pillar back to stock when I move the gauges.
