Search first, this is not a unique question. Here is a thread from 6 days ago:

Use common sense, think like a theif.

I'd HIGHLY recommend using a GPS security system... Look into the Viper 210V GPS system, it's not THAT expensive, but it has a ton of features. This is the system that I have, and it's great.

Other than that, kill switches are a good idea, but just an annoyance for a good theif, but could possibly be the difference between you keeping your car with a broken window, or getting back a bare shell, or nothing at all. The best thing you can do, is have a daily driver, and keep your Type-R in a locked, secured garage... This is what I do, so far, it hasn't done me wrong (I've seen the local "car theives" roll by my house more than a few times, I don't think they have the ***** to try and get into my garage. I will kill someone trying to break into my house, I hope they read this). If someone steals the Prelude, I don't care, it's my thrown together daily driver, I'll get a nice check for a LOT more than I have into it... Someone steals the Type-R, I know where it's going, and I'm rolling deep on those piece of **** gun toting hip gangsta' wannabes, ready for battle (I hope they read this too).

For the Love of God please park your ITR here every night and add as much layers of security as you can.

I've found that having your ITR in the garage helps. Having one that doesn't run makes it even harder to steal from inside the garage.

garage it. alarm it and you might look into those things where if a theif breaks into your car there is this really high pitched noise where if your in the car it really really really hurts your ears. but the main thing is garage it.

i live in oklahoma and if a person enters your home you have the right to shoot them

x2. A gun is all you need.

hahah jp. It really depends on your budget too. GPS tracking or lo jack, kill switch, wheel boot, alarm, steering lock, clutch lock, car cover, quick release, full coverage 2 way insurance and rip your ecu out everytime if is not a hassel for u.

I know exactly how you are feeling, and the nervousness and hesitation you have towards buying her or not because of thief rates, b/c i had the same problem. For me, I just couldn't resist At a certain point, you would come across the thoughts that you might as well spend all that money on performance instead of security, just keep in mind that: you rather have a stock R than having no R. Good luck

I've found having photos of a d16 in the bay taped to the windows for everyone to see helps.

You live in chino hills, Your doomed from the start. Hell Anywere in calie is doomed for a itr. On a previous itr that my bro in law had. I used to roll everywere. And I was allways follewed. I remember being followed from santa monica down the 405 to long beach and from there to cerritos. A quick trip down a buddies block had their car lit up with paint ***** and bb threw the window. I remembered driving back by them while they were parked at the gas station cleaning out the glass and wiping pait ***** of the car. I laughed while throwing a rev at them. I bet now there going to call me and set up a alarm appointment and take revenge-owell bring it,lol.

But beside the point and rewriting everything that can be done again. LOok at the post that have been written this week and check out "causes for alarm" in the audio/video section of the site. Really good information written by or brother "suspended hatch". Everything listed is 100% correct. And if take seriously will protect your car 99.9%. Its up to you to protect your car. If you don't cheap out you will be okay. If not your car will be a donnor to a civic or teg shell or a d.d.
