Default Axles, VTEC calipers, and AT questions...searched..

New lude chick here and searched.. but couldn't find too much.

I'm about to buy an h22 with no tranny or axles from this shop near by; since the h23a1 is on its way. I own a 4th gen, and want to keep it auto. I don't race or anything like that and don't have the time to do the manual conversion. Heres the questions I have since its my first time doing all this:

Should I just buy a 5th gen H22a4 with the auto tranny? will it fit since it's a sport shift?

or..

Should I just buy the jdm h22 with the auto tranny? i can't find them anywhere though.. and what axles will work with it since I have abs and want to stick with the auto?

I also wanted to upgrade my SI's to the 4th gen VTEC calipers, Do I just have to buy the calipers and the rotors? what else do I need?

well first of... check the New York Block Exchange... they have the USDM h22s and trannys///.. I got my block from them... just a thought... or you can go with a JDM h22... and still keep the USDM auto tranny...
Im not sure about the shifter cable length in the 4th and 5th gen lude trannys... but you can run a h22 with an h23 tranny.. and h23 with an h22 tranny//// ... (correct me if im wrong here ..)
...the Vtec calipers .....(calipers from the vtec preludes you mean??)
good luck.

From what i've read, the h23 gearing is longer than the h22, so wouldn't the jdm h22 auto tranny be better? or go with a 5th gen h22 with the 5th gen auto tranny?

and the calipers and rotors are bigger on the 93-96 vtec ludes then the S-SI models, so since my rotors and calipers are messed up, i was thinking of upgrading..

This should help with your caliper/rotor question:

(A search pulled that up)

ohh i see. thank you. I searched for "vtec calipers" and "caliper upgrade" and so forth. The title of what you found is "Brake Systems different in Si vs. VTEC?" thank you again.

anyone know about my axle question and the AT?

No problem.

I think I just searched "brake" to find that thread. I'm looking to upgrade to the vtec setup myself, so it took a few keyword searches before I found what I was looking for.

This kind of **** is annoying. I hate you already.

I'm still feeling helpful enough to tell you to just get another H23 and save yourself the effort. I'm assuming that by the H23 being "on its way", you mean "on its way out". Save yourself the time and money (since you aren't doing this yourself) by just getting a motor that will directly swap in.

Why do you need the upgraded calipers? You don't.

theres 2 ebay sales i just found, and ive seen many vtec auto trans by themselves on ebay before...though i think you should just use the h23 trans cuz the gear ratios arent that different.

you dont need vtec calipers and rotors. you wont ever notice the difference

o ok. thank you so much. i guess i should just replace my rotors, pads and calipers with OE spec ones. Where can I get those for cheap online?

Maybe i'll pick up that motor on ebay. I'm just a bit iffy about buying a motor on ebay. So the gears aren't that much different from the h23 and h22 auto? Will I pass emissions here in NY?

as long as u get the corresponding VTEC ECU with the engine.
you'll also have to wire up VTEC for it to work properly

why replace the calipers? they dont go bad unless the piston is seized which is sorta rare, unless the car has been sitting for a while. you know the rear pistons screw in right? autozone brake parts are cheap, but youll probly do better searching on google and finding the best price

i bought a h22 full swap on ebay once from a individual seller and found a spun rod bearing...ended up paying him $500 for everything and then sold all the parts in pieces for about 2 grand......but chances are motors sold by companies on ebay are a decent bet, since they have a reputation to keep. they realize that if they screw someone over, word would spread fast so its to their advantage to sell good motors.

i bet youd barely feel a difference b/w those auto trans...theres only 4 gears anyway and youll pass emissions as long as the car runs ok

I thought all preludes had the wiring for the VTEC already?

Also I'm probably just gonna get brembo blanks here on HT since I did a search and found that we get some kind of corporate discount or something.
