Default My new gear - pics

Sup guys, just wanted to show off my new gear for this season. All I have to say is that I love it. Pictures of the bike will be coming soon. Plastics are now being painted - jet black with red sparkles and bright red wheels ... Ohhhh sexy

Man that looks like South Philly if I ever saw it.

Looks like the waist of that jacket needs to be tighter, no?

Sup all, to answer a couple of your questions:

I am 6'3 and weight 230 lbs. I do make that bike look like a little bitch hahaha

The waist does need to be tighter. I haven't played much with the jacket but I have to do something with the waist.

The bike is an 06 600 RR and is 100% stock. It is not lowered or anything like that.

For the records, that 600 RR is not mines. It belongs to my friend. I have a ZX9R that is being worked on as we speak. It should be ready in two weeks or so. I will post pics then.

Question:

What is wrong with ICON gear? Just wondering.

See and it was not on purpose that I got the mirror shield. I bought a dark smoke shield but the place sent me this instead. I was pissed at first but thought to give it a try to see what it would look like and I kind of like it. The mirror shield does not go with the theme at all but I will be getting the dark smoke soon.

Well, a couple things kinda. On a personal note a lot of people don't like the styling. Skulls, flames, etc. On a safety note I think some (not all? most that I've seen I guess) of their jackets are a little too baggy and can compromise the purpose of the armor. If the jacket fits loose and you wreck, the armor is most likely going to shift around and not protect what it was meant to protect.

It IS like having altezzas on your car. Or putting a "powered by civic" sticker on your civic. It's just a little too flashy for my tastes. Or i guess it's like putting a shopping cart wing on your car with flame stickers on the fenders.
It's just unneccassry flashiness. But some people might consider the gear i wear to be flashy. In the end it's all personal taste. For me, i wanted a two piece. Icon makes jackets, and they make dumb jeans, not things that zip in to each other. I needed that.
I also wanted a very fitted jacket, and Icon's jackets just don't do it for me.
My room mate bought an icon timax textile jacket and it came with no armor. For the money he spent he could have gotten the same leather jacket as me from motogp and been better off. It only took him 2 months before he sold the icon and got an A* tz-1 and is much happier.

Well I've owned 2 Icon jackets, a TiMax and a standard leather that I wear now. I felt absolutely naked wearing the TiMax, paid too much for it too. Sold it after using it about 10 times. The leather jacket I have from Icon actually fits very well and I got it at a great price a year ago. Most Icon stuff is pretty trendy and aimed at the stunters and squids who don't care about protection...those people go for looks above all else. I dunno...to each their own.

Have you guys ever lifted an Icon helmet? It weighs like a bag of buckshot. There's marketing involved with everything we buy, but Icon seems to focus more on it and "the lifestyle" than most which makes me cringe.

It seems that they spend more on style than engineering.

icon is not like altezza's for your car. Icon still holds up to the snell and DOT safety standards like all the other helmets. Don't let these guys who jump on trends fool you.

To stoop down to these guys level. If your comparing the bike world to the car world, these guys are the JDM bandwagon folk. And I don't have anything ICON, so I have no bias either. Let's not get sidetracked and if any of you want to discuss this further pm me.

Anyways, nice bike! I'm partial to the silver rr because I don't see it too often. Black/red sounds like a good combo too,

ICON is like having Altezzas on your car - WOW that sums it up for me hahahaha.

The jacket is an ICON Daytona DMH and it feels very good - kind of heavy but good. The craftmenship is awesome but now that you guys mentioned about jackets being a little too loose and how that can affect the protection part of it, it makes me think because the waist on the jacket is a little too loose and I can't get it to fit better. The rest of jacket fits perfectly.

The helmet is an ICON Domain Decay. I just love it. The fitment and confort is pretty good but again, I can only compare it to my other helments not the Arias and any other that you guys have.

Over all, I am happy with my purchase. I see what you guys are saying about the flashiness but I am ok with that with the gear but not on the bike. Those that know who I am and how I like my cars and what my taste is -
