LS Block (picking it up tomorrow) Honed to match pistons
LS Crank
LS Rods (machined big ends)
ARP Rod Bolts (waiting for them in the mail)
ARP Head Studs (waiting for them in the mail)
Honda OEM P30 or P3 Pistons +0.25 over (whichever ones I can find cheaper)
Honda OEM Rings
B16A2 Head (getting hot tanked on Monday)
Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams (in my trunk)
Supertech Valve springs and retainers (in my trunk)
Tuned by chipped P28 ECU using PLX Wideband (borrowing from my FC)

Do you think this setup with proper tuning will net more or less than 200whp? That is my goal. I can't let my friends NX2000 with a SR20VE pull on me!!!

What should my CR be with P3 and P30 pistons respectvely? Will the CR be high enough for the Skunk2 Stage 2's to perform well?

The compression will be fine for those cams man, but no one can guess what power it will make, too many other factors.

With a good header and intake manifold though I would think it could.

Here’s my 2c. You can not hone a block .25 over. Also, why did you go ahead and do the boring ("honing") without the pistons? Any body that knows the essence of engine rebuilding knows that you need the pistons when boring. I’m surprised your machinist didn’t tell you that. My advice would be to call your machine shop and stop him asap. This may be a blunt question given fact that you don’t have the pistons, but what piston to wall clearance are you planning to get? Anyways.. goodluck with the build. the important part is that you’re having fun. Keep us posted. thanx for sharing.

hopefully he meant "picking up the block" as in buying the block tommorow. def. would be hard to get the right p2w clearance without pistons.

Ok, sorry I wasn't more specific. I will be picking up a used B18A long block tomorrow. I am not getting it honed until I decide on pistons. I talked to my machinist, who has built several LSV's and his own dyno'd over 500hp, he told me to get either p30 or pr3 OS pistons in +.25 and he will hone the block to match them. He didn't recommend standard size as the cylinders might be out of round.

I have to admit I am in the dark about what the piston to wall clearance will be as I will leave that to him once he has the pistons. Are there any recommendations?

well....
it depends on the piston manufacturer, so if you are going to be using oe honda pistons, than you will just need to go by the oe specs.
i dont know how different the p2w specs are between the different motors though, so i guess you will have to find out if you should go by the b18a specs, or the specs of the motor the pistons were supposed to go in. good luck!

Your compression should be right around 11.5 with those pistons, which will be perfect for pump gas and an aggressive tune.
