Default 01 civic ex beeps 6 times on startup

hey guys.

looks like there is something wrong w/ my 01 civic..

its battery died today and I jumpstarted.. drove around 1 hour to get it charged. after I shut down the engine and restarted to test.. I heard 6 beeps coming from the dash.. did couple of more shutdown-restarts 6 beeps all the time..

is this car trying to tell me something?

thanx in advance for the inputs.

True true. I was too lazy to go out to my car and check myself.

If it beeps, I've grown accustomed to it. If there are no warning lights on the dash then I say everything is as it should be.

Speeking of warning lights im geting a light on mine saying maint req. Checked oil and good. Also changed it with synthetic about 5-6k ago. just started up one morning. It goes away after about 5 seconds but still annoying and wondering if its a problem.

UK models don't even do that... All we have is a red light on the cluster saying it's not in use.

Here is your answer, Vermont. It's also linked in the FAQ.

If you think your 6 beeps are bad, try having a radar detector that does its boot up beeping and a car stereo that goes through its morning ritual beeping. Grrr, too many beeps !!! :cry LoL

Funny. I've always heard my 01 civic beep, but never cared cause it didn't bother me. I just ran out to my car to see why it beeps. Put your seatbelt on before you turn your key and then you won't hear it beep.

BTW - I'd rather have those 6 beeps when I turn the key instead of what the newer cars do now. They beep the whole time while you drive if you don't have your seatbelt on. (I only know this to be true on American cars as I haven't driven a newer Honda car.)
