Has anyone ever heard of this?
So lately my car has been in the high high 90K range...and I kept telling myself that I didn't want it to roll over to 100K and blah blah blah.
Well, I was driving and it hit 99,999 EXACTLY and stopped working.....along with the trip meter
Anybody else ever had this?

LOL me too!!! i bought my '92 si hatch at 92,000 miles 3 years ago, and i only have 94,545 as of right now... it wont be getting anywhere near 100,000 if i can help it.
just open your gauge cluster and then loosen the miles roller, its most likely stuck on a tooth/cog

thats what happens when someone rolls back the mileage.. someone tampered with it.. what did the mileage say when you bought it?
you car must of been over 100,000 they rolled the 1 back to 0 and when you hit 99,999 it tries to turn that 0 to a 1 and that wheel is damaged so it gets stuck

Sh~it, I just turned over 208k!!
Stop your b!tchin'! It's not like it will ever be a collectors item.
And even if it did turn out that it was a "Collectible Item",,, one mile short of 100k isn't going to grab much over if it only had, say 3200 miles.

It had 83K-ish when I bought it (I knew someone tampered with it already, but the idea of a relatively low mileage '94 Civic was nice
)
I might pull it apart tomorrow...
But I need a whole new one anyways...my car is a standard but it has an automatic cluster (P,R,N, D4, etc.) is still on there, AND the gas gauge stopped working....sigh...I need to stop by a junkyard or something

Probably. Today is one of those days.

I took the cluster apart today and it WOULD NOT turn past 99,999...it would roll backwards, but anything past that wouldn't go.
So, instead of buying a whole new cluster, I figured I'd save a couple bucks and put in a spare speedometer head I have that read 189K...at least it works

Taffeta is not the color code. NH-578 is the color code.
