Default Best N/A Bang for 4 Grand?

I have a '93 Si Automatic. I'm looking into engine swaps and came up with 3 major hits and got stuck. Main goals are 250hp at the crank and reliability. 4 Grand is the most I'll spend on a stock engine swap installed!

You could easily build an h23 vtec with type s pistons and some skunk pro2s and a nice header (rmf, dtr, sms) and make that kind of power, actually more, and if you have it built by a good shop, it will be as reliable as a stock engine.

Are you going to keep it auto tranny? If so, look into the G23 hybrid. Search for Pirate McFred's thread about it. Won't get you 250 chp, but it can get you 200whp. Not bad for an engine that will make more tq than the H22. Seems like a great engine for a commuting car too.

If you decide on an H22 swap, let me know. I will likely be selling my near stock JDM H22a in the near future. I'm not too far from you either.

Exactly what I would do with 4 grand.

what a post *****.....I come to honda-tech to sell stuff and talk about basketball, but I contribute nothing but thread-babble to bump my post count like it means anything because I am just an 07'er.

H23 VTEC+Race header....
Or just spray a stock JDM H22 and blow away any N/A setup out there.

Man I did a 93 console conversion to get rid of that, and there still isn't enough room in the back to fool around, and my girl is pretty small.

expletive the back seat, go with the reclined passenger seat.

All depends on how much time and effort you want to spend. The h22's are like drop in don't have to put anything into them. The h23vtec is a little more work. Both would work good.

WOW....someone who actually thinks the same about that thing.
And hey, its only 16-20month lead time for one.
Hmmm......$2-3000 for a 100mm stroke or $100 for a 97mm stroke?!?!
Where did 2point6's 98mm crank come from???

Reclined passenger seat FTW!
Armrest-less console and removable steering wheel FTMFW!!!
