Default FS: 1983 Yamaha Maxim 400, great starter bike, near Pittsburgh PA.

I'm trying to sell this bike I recently purchased. It's a 1983 Yamaha Maxim 400 twin, has only 7200 miles on it; runs shifts rides and stops great. It's been well taken care of, nice black paint, shiney chrome, perfect seat.

I bought this bike for my fiance, but she changed her mind about learning how to ride O well, I guess somebody else will enjoy it.

I would at least like to break even on it, I'm asking $650 for it, this is what I paid for it given that it had lower miles, and was in great overall condition, I thought it was worth it, I may have overpaid I'm not sure, so the price is slightly negotiable. Heck, if I can't get close to that back out of it, I might just keep it as a high mpg commuter bike for myself.

I will be posting pictures ASAP.

If you have any questions, please ask.

Just thought I'd mention that I will consider a trade up/down or straight up for any Honda bike/scooter.

Pics coming soon.

Why would you want a scooter?

I'll take it off your hands if you would be able to hold it for a month for me to figure out shipping.
It reminds me of the very first bike I ever had, a 1981 Yamaha Exciter 250.

Well, I'm not sure that I would be able to hold it for you (maybe so if you were willing to put a deposit on it); however, if it's still for sale in a month or whenever you're ready to buy it, then you'd be more than welcome to do so.

What I mean is, I can pay in full right now, I just need a little time to get shipping setup. So do you think you could put it back in that shed in the pictures until the truck shows up to take it away?

O ok, then I could do that. It can sit safely in my shed until you're able to arrange shipping.

I don't know if this will effect your decision to buy this bike or not, but this was just brought to my attention and I want to make this known to all potential buyers. This bike has a rebuilt title. This is due to the fact that one of the previous owners rear ended the bike into a car at low speeds. The only damage sustained was to the front fork tubes. Those have been replaced, and everything works and functions properly. I'm willing to accept that this will probably lower the value of the bike, so I'm willing to negotiate on the price.

Also not pictured, but included with the bike: a rear sissy bar, saddlebags, and front windsheild. I'll try to get some pics of all the stuff shortly.

I will probably have to pass, I just got a few shipping quotes. One of the downsides to living in the middle of nowhere.

I am interested in your bike. If you could possibly post some pictures or send them to landonlangston@yahoo.com I would appreciate and hope to do business with you.

Price drop, I will sell it for $350 firm.

Reason for price drop, the bike does not have an R-title, it has a salvage certificate (which can be turned into an R-title, after you take all the steps to apply for it). I just don't have the time to mess with it, so I'm letting it go cheap. I have the salvage certificate in hand, and it's fully transferable.

this is exactly what i've been looking for, but if i bought it, and then paid shipping, it's still likely to come out to ~$1000, which is what they're selling for around here.

how far are you from boston? I'm in TX, but i've got friends that live up there

That's a good question, I haven't ridden it enough to have ever calculated it. But it's only a 400 twin, so I would imagine 60+ mpg, if not more.

I'm near Pittsburgh PA, if I had to guess, I'd say Boston's at least 9 hours away from me.

This is just a thought, of course we'd have to plan this all out, but if you really want this bike, I will be in Birmingham AL in October where I'm buying another bike, so I'll have an empty trailer on the way down to there, so I could bring this one with me. But you're still looking at quite a hall from where you are to Birmingham AL.
