They won't confess.
According to the customer they were driving down the road and a puff of blue smoke came out. Then the engine died.

Funny thing is the car ran for like 5 seconds when we went to pull it in.

looking at the rear bumper, it has definately been driven hard and put up wet....

my s2k rear bumper has never looked like that no matter how hard i drive it.....

and i run mobil 1....

now on my old 98 itr, that was a different story, the bumper always looked like that no matter how it was driven......an no matter what oil i used.....

if it was a 00-01 that may be from the spark plug tsb.....but seeing that the rear window is glass it is an 02+

I did the same thing, from 3rd to 2nd in my S2k. Bent all valves, broke two valve guides, cracked all the retainers, and lightly tapped one of the pistons but nothing happend to the piston.

I did all the work myself and saved hella money....

I learned my lesson....

The rear bumper could just be from the exhaust not pertruding from the bumper enough, when they are sitting the exhaust heat will go up and burn the bumper. I see it everyday on cars with cheap exhausts.

What is this sparkplug TSB on the 2001 model?
