Default JDM ZC Swap Questions

Okay, after researching I have decided I want to do a ZC swap.

I have a 91 Civic HAtch STD.

Basically if I buy a full swap, all I have to do it siwtch from DPFI to MPFI correct?

Is there anyway to just buy all the wires all ready switched in order for it to be plug and play after the new motor was dropped?

Also...anyone running a ZC?

THanks

yeah you have to send them your harness though or it costs a butt load more...teh actual mpfi conversion as far as wiring isnt that difficult if you have any kind of mechanical, folllow directions to a T, skills.

That is the only modification required though? Just changing to mpfi?

and different axles if you plan on sticking with the ZC tranny, and did you said it is a std model, so if you use the zc tranny you will also need new knuckles if i am not mistaken. anyone can confirm this for me?? it has a 4 speed and not a 5 speed correct?? you can use your existing tranny but i would advise an si or a dx tranny....it all really depends on what you are wanting to do with the car.

if you buy a complete swap, which includes the ZC transmission, you will have to swap knuckles/hubs on your STD for ones from a DX/LX/Si or EX (EX will give you larger brakes) and you will have to use 90-93 Integra axles with a ZC intermediate shaft or you will need to have custom axles made - you will need 88-89 Integra upper radiator hose, 88-91 CRX/Civic Si lower radiator hose - since the STD has a tiny exhaust and uses a close coupled cat, you will need to do some exhaust work - all of this in addition to the DPFI to MPFI wiring changes

when i did my first swap, i had never even done a brake job before. It was a long process but i got directions and walkthroughs by searching all over the internet and did it in about 4 weeks (really didnt know what i was doing at all ) now i can pull a motor in a day and put one in the next with only one helper(dad...not much help but he gets the job done). ONE piece of advice: the reason why i can do it much faster now is cause i had to do it again only six months later cause i didnt listen to everyones advice here on HT about replacing the timing belt and water pump. water pump froze on me and i bent three valves and detonanted/cracked a piston. so i had to put another engine in. replace as much as you can before you put that bastard in. You may already know but just giving a heads up.

As far as timing belts and water pumps go...are they specfic for the ZCs or are there cross overs..

Same for after market parts...I never see anything listed for the ZC...will SI parts work?

Beside the difference money wise, there doesn't really seem to be all that much more work to go with a B16. I though the ZC I could basically just drop in.

I'm just going to run the D15 til she dies or until I figure out what to do.

Which ZC are you even talking about......??

DOHC or SOHC?? Cause if its the single slammer EVERYTHING is the same as the Si.

I would just go with a b-series if I were you. Im rockin the jdm zc but there is hardly any aftermarket parts for the zc which sucks. But if you do the swap its pretty easy and the mpfi conversion aint that hard. This site helped me when I did my swap.

bad information!!

the DOHC ZC uses the same timing belt as the 88 Prelude 2.0 Si - it uses the 88-91 Civic/CRX D16A6 water pump - it uses the 88-91 Civic/CRX D16A6 timing belt tensioner
