Default Proposed list for GT30R Turbo build, experts please advise

(I posted this in the FI forum as well, but I figured I might get more responses here)
Well, after about 6+ months of researching Im ready to start buying the parts I need for my turbo build. This is for my 98 Prelude and will be a street driven, daily driver with occasional trips to the track. I want good driveability, a decent spool, faster the better without too much traction issues. This is what I got so far:

Garret GT30- I have a decent understanding of turbo sizes, but I could use some opinions on what sizes would work best for by desired goal

spoolin perfromance log manifold or blaastperformance sideblaster manifold- Looking for a good manifold for this setup that allows for ps and ac to remain any other suggestions?

2.5 or 3" in downpipe with kteller 3" exaust piping with high flow cat- can i use my greddy evo2 muffler with that?

Hks ssqv bov

Tial Wastegate- 44mm?

Greddy turbo timer

AEM Wideband O2 Gauge and Sensor

AEM Tru boost gauge type boost controller

Water Temp Gauge- brand?

Oil Pressure Gauge- brand?

Oil Temp Gauge- brand?

EGT Gauge- brand?

GT turbo coolant line kit

Oil Feed/ Drain Kit

Walbro 255 LPH HP fuel pump

RC or Precision peak and hold injectors 740cc? 1000cc?

Intercooler- Size/ Brand??? 2.25" piping

Laskeyracing.com Benson sleeved engine bottom end build comes with-
Benson sleeved block
Benson balanced and micropolished crank
CP pistons and rings 9-1 cr
Eagle rods
ACL bearings
Balance shaft removal mod (saves 8lbs, picks up 7HP, increases oil pressure and volume)
OEM oil pump
Gaskets as required
Blueprint and assembly

Arp head studs

H23 Manual tensioner conversion

PortFlow port & polish, SuperTech Stainless Steel nitride coated valves, dual valve springs, titanium retainers, competition 3 angle valve job, surfaced to a mirror like finish and assembly

Aem or UR or BDL adjustable cam gears

Hondata intake manifold gasket

BDL Throttle Body- Size?

Oil cooler and filter relocation kit from MFfactory

Quaife lsd and replace synchros

Oil catch can/breather(not sure whats the best one yet)

p28 with Hondata S300

eventually upgrade my Exedy stage 1 to a stage 2 or 3 clutch

Possibly some type of traction bar- Is it worth it?

Any comments, inputs, missing items, or disagreements with what I have so far is very welcome and much appreciated

Consider the GT35R.

Yes, get a traction bar. I got mine from PFIspeed.com. Explicitspeed sells them as well.

Do not wait on a clutch. Get while the engine is out.

^^ yes do not wait on the clutch a stage one will not hold long. for the cam gears get some with at least 5 bolts. for the intercooler do something like 15-18 long 8-10 tall by 2.5-3" thick. get the traction bar it will not only give you better traction but will also give you more room for your dp. for guages i use defi's they are really accurate but expensive, but from looking at your build what another $700. you will not need 1000 cc inj use 750's you will have alot of room to play with those.

if your goin with 3" piping from cat back just go 3" downpipe also. keep it all free flowing with this setup you seem like you want as much power as possible. as for the greddy evo2 muffler you can keep it. all the shop is going to do is cut off the pipe behind it and weld on the 3" pipe

greddy evo muffler is 60mm inlet. which is roughly around 2.36 inches. that will be a restriction.

Ok, so it sounds like the greddy muffler is out of the question. are you sure they cant widen the opening at the can to 3 in? I think I will most definately be waiting for anthony to finish his traction bar at av-engineering, sounds like he's making a really good design and Im goin to be taking my car to him anyway to have most of this work done.

i'm pretty sure you gotta do a battery relocation for the sideblaster manifold
just to keep that in mind

whats your whp goal?
Drag, autox, just street, mix?

All gauges pretty much do the same thing. It's personal preference. Defi, Autometer, Apexi, Blox etc

Also the Precision Intercoolers are very efficient.

Depending on your power goals, a GT35R would not be bad candidate.

sell your greddy evo exhaust and buy a new one like the kteller people are talking about with a magnaflow muffler.
your better off that way....

ok, a battery relocation was already in the back of my mind with either manifold i

get. anyone have an opinion on which manifold i should get? As I already stated,

this is going to be mostly a street/ daily driver with occasional visits to the track so

thats why Im leaning towards the gt30 over the 35 for the quicker spool time. It

seems I should be able to get a good 400 hp out of the 30 anyway. Im just curious

as to which specs of the 30 would be optimal for my goals. So kteller with

magnaflow huh? Anyone got a sound clip of how that sounds turbod?

make sure you get a resonator if you don't want a raspy sound.

22whp/17tq by using a 3" piped setup VS RSR exhaust....
I would never waste my time with an off the shelf exhaust on a Turbo setup.....
It makes as much sense as Turbo'ing a stock internal H22......
Benson sleeves......in the same realm as Crower Cams in my mind.....

Does no one make a 3" exhaust for Preludes? I used to run a 3" thermal exhaust that mated to a 3" downpipe from Lovefab.. on a DC2. I thought it was a nice setup, no restrictions. If I was doing it again, I probably would go custom, but the thermal fit.

I believe Thermal may be the ONLY company that MADE a 3" OTS Prelude Exhaust. I don't see it listed on their site anymore......TURBO EXHAUST=Civ/Teg
Remember, nobody mods Preludes and everyone mods Civ/Teg.....thats what the Aftermarket seems to think at least.
It actually makes it easier IMO. Less parts to sort through......We don't have 100 choices for most mods. Want a header? Ok you have 5 or so to choose from.
Wheel selection is what really kills for US 4x114 guys.......

Back on point.....GT30R is pretty much the best money can buy in that range!

Their old problems still haunt people. Their work may very well be up there with the Best now. Poor quality control owned them though.

I'll admit, I am dumbfounded. What happened before? All of the times that I have searched Bensons, I have never came across any negative feedback. Shed some light, please.

Well.....the way it was told to me was they did great work, got over-busy, hired some new people....and sleeves started sinking. As much as people have now said their work is good and even great, you will still hear about people having issues from their old work. Either blocks that were sleeved and sat waiting on completion at shops or blocks that were progressively more abused as time went on and then had issues.
Before its asked, yes....A good friend of mine had this issue. Benson sleeved motor was done several years ago, sat around waiting build/install. Was installed and run through break-in and then Dyno'd. Made ~270whp(mustang dyno) and on the way home he thought the HG blew from all the dyno runs. Had it towed home and last time I talked to him he told me a sleeve sank.

I would do some searching around.....See what you find.

***EDIT***
I just did some searching/reading(because I am a fair guy) and I can tell you there is nothing to fear with their current work. There seems to be alot of people that are thrilled with them. After reading all of that mixed with my previous statement, the only thing I would suggest is staying away from an OLD NEW/USED Benson Sleeved block.
For BENSON'S identifying an employee problem and fixing it! Thats a sign of a True Pro right there!

^ thanks for posting.

The reason I am going with Bensons is because, IMO, all sleeves are equal...it comes down to installation. If sleeves have a problem, it tends to lie with the person who installed them.

Agreed 100%......Someone who has DARTON sleeves installed by someone other than DARTON cannot blame DARTON for issues.
