Default Blown head gasket: Fix it or New Engine?????

So i blew my head gasket today.

I have a 2000 Civic Coupe EX with the standard engine. It's got 140,000 miles on it and i just did the clutch and flyewheel. It also has a kn intake kit. I am afraid there may be more problems from the head gaskit. I had to drive it about 15 miles to get it to the dealer. The dealer wants $1400 bucks to do the job. I would consider myself an amateur mechanic, but my dad is really good with cars and would help me do it.

So here is my question:

Should I try to do the head gasket, or would it be more cost effective to drop in another rebuilt engine at this time?
Are those Rebuilt engines any good?
Should I just go with the stock b16 or would it be better for me to go with a b18? What would be easiest? Is it worth it for the extra effort? Would ther be a lot of things i would have to replace if i change engines models? Would i have to change the tranny if i went to a B18? I love power but i can't afford a lot nor can i spend a month trying to figure out how to hook things up on my daily driver.

Hope i can get some good advice, kinda in a pinch right now.

Michael

a head gasket is a easy fix. and if you say your dad is really good at cars then just fix it your self a headgasket is around $50 bucks at your local autoparts store.

like said before me, fix it for the 50 or 70 bucks whatever the headgasket will cost from shucks or autozone or any of those stores, or if you want to spend 1400 you can get a b16 swap or something

why would you go to the dealer? ask around man. there must be a near by mechanic on this forum to you. or ask around

replace headgasket only cost headgasket + like $300-500
