Well I just bought a used tranny off someone saying that it was in perfect shape etc. So I put the tranny on and now it wont go in 3rd or 4th. But it will go in 1st 2nd and 5th. Does the shifter have to be super tight to where it cant move because right now its loose and can wiggle around some. Any ideas?

 

Is there oil in the tranny?

 

yes I put 2.3 quarts in it.

 

well I tighted down the 2 bolts that go through the car and was able to get it into 3rd but it was hard. Now my question is should there be any play in the shifter where the bolt connects it to the shift rod? Should I put washers in there to eliminate the play?

Ight I got it to go into all gears now. But Its really stiff. I found this thread and it mentioned something about greasing. What is it Im soppose to grease when I put it back together?
