Default auto to manual em2?

im thinking of buying an em2 for the use of building up a d17 and boosting it.

i recently found a good deal on a salvage title em2 with an auto tranny and was wondering if anyone has done the swap to manual on an em2 yet?

how much did it cost?
maybe a parts list?

any feedback would help

it's not worth it to swap, you're looking at 1k doing it yourself or 1.5k-2k having a shop doing it for you depending on how they charge. Save yourself money and time and just buy a 5spd em2 instead of an auto

Plus the D17 is only so-so, without huge money spent in the boosted setup.

Hey man, I just did this swap for a customer. Here is the info I wish someone else gave me before the project:

- 2001 & 2002 harness' (the 4 under the dash and the 2 under the hood) are different from the 2003-2005. The later integrates 2 additional relays for theft prevention, and other minor differences... Also, 4 door harness' are different from the 2 door harness'.

- You will need the fuse boxes and every harness in the vehicle except for the rearward chassis harness, as well as the ecu. MAKE SURE you get your donor harness' from the same model year, model (ex, dx, lx) and 2dr or 4dr. as your car. I have checked every part number from honda on the vehicles, and know exactly what it takes.

- The sub frame is different and the motor mounts will be off by almost 3/4 of an inch. It will fit, but the mounts get really tweaked and and the rubber will break within a week. Get the sub frame ahead of time, all years are the same. Also, the tranny, and forward engine mounts are different.

- Driver side drive shaft is different, and possibly the passenger side also, I cant remember.

-Obviously you will need the hydraulics for the clutch, as well as the pedal assembly from the manual. You will have to build a custom mounting plate for the clutch pedal on the upper firewall/wiper motor housing. Also you will have to drill a whole in the firewall for the master cylinder to pass through.

- You need the shifter cables and the shifter unit.

-You need a flywheel and clutch too.

This is tedious work, very time consuming, and an overall pain in the ***. Sell your car and buy a five speed, and use the extra 2500 to upgrade to a car that will come with more power. I CAN ONLY SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE.
