93 civic 1.6l Airbox vs. 99 civic 1.6l airbox.

I could be wrong, but if both motors are a 1.6l, then they should have the same diameter intake piping, inner and outer diameter. So what would be the point in swapping them? If I am wrong, someone please fill me in, I hate to be left in the dark. IMO it just sounds stupid to swap something almost identical with no promise of power in return.

either 1 he has an ek w/o an air box and he's got a junk eg sittin around w/ one and he's too cheap to put one in, or 2 he's heard from some jackass that one flows better than the other so he wants to try it.
