Default accelerating problem

i have been having this problem for sometime now and cant figure out what is going on i have change out my distributor my plugs accouple times and ran some seafoam through the engine...

when i accelerate it hesistates in spots but other then that accelerates normal it also has a problem of not that much power in low rpm's... i have been told that it might be my main relay and also that i might have a im leak.

i have a apexi neo that i still havent hooked up do to trying to fix this problem first. on the car right now i have a short ram air intake, muffler, and some cheap napa plug wires... any advice would help me out greatly....

thanks in advance

yea change the valve cover gasket (like 10 dollars at autozone) Check your timing.
Then go ahead and check your engine codes (jump the service connector) Make sure the vac lines running to your sensors are good. Change your fuel filter (takes 5 mins and cost 19.95 at autozone). It could be your map sensor. or knock sensor. or 02 sensor. Are you running rich (aka black **** on the back of the car and crappy gas mileage?) let us know.

yea i change out the oil pan gasket, oil pressure senor, oil cooler housing o-ring, the valve cover gasket, the cam plug less then a month ago... i also changed out my fuel filter and o2 sensor less then 3 months ago... my car has always ran really rich that is why i got a apexi neo to kinda change that but still havent hooked it up. my mechanic did my timing awhile back for me also... and there are no codes being thrown at me right now... i have heard that a map sensor has to be pretty much broken to throw a code and that it wont unless its totally broke... could it be that my injectors are surging when i accelerate kinda hard? or maybe my main relay is goin out?

Thanks again for the help

where is the knock sensor by the way? is it above the oil filter? or is it the one between the pan and filter?

knock sensor is above the oil filter on the (if your facing your lude headon) right side under the Intake manifold runner. its a single wire connection and is a PITA to get to unless your lifted or doing an oil change.

okay then i take it the one just under the oil filter housing is the oil pressure sensor... do you think it might be the knock sensor?

it could be, if its failing the ecu will automatically go into failsafe, and run the car rich with retarded timing to avoid blowing the engine...happened to me. I fixed it.

I've seen spark wires cause problems. If they are solid wire, they can cause EMI (electrical noise) that can mess with the sensor signals going to the ECU. See if you can borrow an OEM set or something like magnecore to test. This is similar to running non-resistor type spark plugs with coil packs.
