Default Agent_Em1 is a SCAMMER!!!

This is posted in the wrong forum, but as a new member, I'm not entitled to post in the correct forum yet. Because he drives an RSX, I thought I'd post it here.

I bought a Passport Escort X50 radar detector off of him that he had listed on this forum and on Craigslist in Portland, OR. I gave him $190 cash. I put the detector on my windshield and as soon as I started driving, it went flying off the windshield - the suction cups and mount stayed on the windshield, but the detector itself would not clip on to the mount - it was broken. I called him back immediately and he said he would mail me the receipt - claimed he bought it two months ago at BestBuy. Passport will warranty it if I have the original receipt proving it's less than a year old. Well, guess what, 8 days after I gave him my address, he still hasn't mailed the so called receipt. He won't return any of my calls, won't return any emails. He's a total liar and a scammer and I can prove it.

There's a thread on here he started asking about Portland Oregon Car thieves - in that thread, he says this:

quote:
"One guy on craigslist who I hear is a very awesome person and sells stuff at very good prices is Jei . I don't know if he has a Honda-Tech account but i've been told by tons of people on craigslist that this "Jei" guy has very good deals and has a dealer account to get stuff at cost and likes to help people out. I've done business with him a couple times and like others, my respect for him is to a point where I don't even bother trying to nag him with his prices. He has honest connections to anything - car alarms with installation , audio, window tinting, anything. If you guys need anything I will give him a buzz. His e-mail address is preppyboyjei@gmail.com and ButohJohnson@gmail.com so if you see those e-mail addresses then that's him. VERY COOL guy."
end quote

WELL, GUESS WHAT!!! This Jei guy that Agent_Em1 claims is so great IS AGENT_EM1!!! Just look in the Marketplace on here and see the stuff Agent_Em1 is selling - the reply email address is preppyboyjei@gmail.com or ButohJohnson@gmail.com. TOTAL SCAMMER. The worst part is he's a total hypocrite - he has posted on here several times about how crappy it was that he got scammed, and then he goes and sells a broken radar detector, lies about it coming from a retail store with a receipt, and then won't return any of my phone calls or emails. Well, it's time someone called him out for what he is.

If anyone with posting privileges on here would be kind enough to put a link to this in the forum where it belongs, it would be much appreciated - you guys deserve to know that this idiot is trying to deceive all of you.

Unbelievable - he's trying to sell a Civic cluster now on this board and said this in his ad: "I hate thieves and scammers with all of my heart so rest assured." Well, at least you don't have to go far to find one Jei- any mirror will do.

I see that in that thread that Sharik called him out, asking how he got on his vouch list...geee, I wonder....

Jerk.

I changed your title because nothing is proven so far. I am only letting this go to see if there is a resolution that comes out of it.

Just stick to facts and we'll see what happens...

Thanks, Todd, for the reply. I know that as a new member, I have an uphill battle in "proving" this, but there really isn't much to prove that isn't obvious. He said he had an original purchase receipt for the broken radar detector and he doesn't. He won't respond to emails I've sent him or phone calls. I'm a lawyer in Portland, Oregon - look me up if you need to. I'm honest and sticking to the facts.

And I did prove that he is a liar - see the post above that I cut and pasted from one of his posts on the "northwest car thiefs" thread. All you need to do is check out his registered email address (or the email addresses he uses when he tries to sell merchandise on here) and it confirms he is trying to "anonymously" promote his own sales on craigslist, claiming he doesn't know the guy when indeed it's himself! I don't understand what further "proof" you need - it's clear as day.

Thank you for letting this go - hopefully he will have the courage to post something here or contact me directly and fess up to his lie. If he doesn't have the receipt, he should either buy the detector back from me for what I paid for it, or pay the $59.95 service fee Escort charges to fix detectors that do not have a proof of purchase. He knew the detector was broken when he sold it, I called him within minutes of buying it, and he promised to mail me the original receipt so I could send it in and get it fixed. He lied, and I don't want others on here to get duped.

Well, I'm pretty confident that nothing is going to come of this as Agent_Em1, i.e. preppyboyjei has already posted another thread on here full of lies about the incident. His lies:

1. He claims I called him an hour later after I broke the detector. Wrong, it was 10 minutes - just enough time to hook it up and have it fall off the windshield when I accellerated from a stop light. I owned another of these that was stolen - I know how they work - I didn't break it.

2. He claims he put "as-is" in his for sale ad on craigslist. Lie - he specifically said he bought it from Best-buy 2 months earlier and had the receipt (same ad he put on this board). I've emailed him every day asking if he mailed the receipt to me like he said he would so I could get warranty coverage. He hasn't responded yet.

3. He said he paid $320 for it at Best Buy. I've since found out this is a "grey market" version - no serial number. Not bought from an authorized dealer, so no warranty service available AT ALL!

So, as far as I'm concerned, he won't fess up to his deceitful act. I'll just have to even the score with him in person. Hopefully anyone who reads this will take extra caution in dealing with this scammer. He seems like a nice kid, just immature and not willing to own up to his mistakes.

I linked him to this thread in a thread he posted about scammers so hopefully he will work with you. Sorry to hear about your issues man, it sounds like you got a pretty raw deal.

Thanks, Jon. I appreciate the support. I see he posted at the other thread you were talking about. I'd post over there, but I've still got "trial user" status and it won't let me yet.

It's not the $190 that I'm so worried about - it's all the wasted time tracking him down. I took his email addresses and tracked him to here and some other sites, and then ran an OJIN search through my law office to get his name and address. What's really annoying is that when I found him on here, he was being a total hypocrite, complaining about scammers all the time when indeed he's one of the worst. He says outrageous stuff like he was pointing a gun at some guy trying to steal his car, and offers to pay money to have some guy beat up who scammed him... I even found that post above where he was promoting his altered ego on craigslist trying to drum up business for himself. I can't see how anyone here could trust the guy after just reading a little bit of that trash.

I see that now he says he was using the detector when we met up - another lie. It was all boxed up, he took it out of the box and plugged it in, but didn't connect the mounting bracket. As soon as I connected the bracket, I could feel it was broken inside - it won't clip on to the bracket at all. I called him immediately. He initially posted that I called him an hour later and now I see he says an hour and a half - pretty soon he will stretch it to a week later. I called him within 10 minutes - soon enough that he could drive back and take the detector back. But, when he offered to mail me the receipt, I decided I could just warranty it...that was the last time I talked to him. I called Escort and set up a warranty return number - just waiting for the receipt to establish it was sold within th last year. He won't answer the phone or respond to my emails requesting the receipt.

I'll just find a way to fix the radar detector myself - maybe some double sided tape wrapped around the connector will keep it mounted on the windshield. It's just the principle of it and his refusal to return any of my emails or answer his phone and then lie about having the receipt that really pisses me off. I don't like being scammed any more than the next guy, but for this guy to lie about it really pisses me off.

Honestly, how are you calling my facts lies? I am stating the truth. That radar detector WORKS and the mounting never had any problems with it when I sold it to you. It was on the vehicle I was using when I came to meet up with you. I then put it in the box and gave it to you. But to MAKE SURE of everything I plugged it in to show you it works and you know it works. You called me about an hour to an hour or so later and told me that the radar unit wasn’t connecting with the windshield bracket. I don’t know what happened between the time I sold it to you and the time you called me, but it was working fine for me and I NEVER had any problems with it. I had it on my windshield and when we met at the Golf Course, I took it off and boxed it.

As for the receipt, I thought I had the receipt but I cannot find it. Yes, you’re going to turn around and say B.S., and I contacted the person who gave it to me and he doesn’t have the receipt either. By the way, he’s in Texas as well which is originally where I live. This radar detector was a “gift” to me. Now, you come on Honda-Tech to call me a scammer? Sir, I am no scammer! I did not “scam” you! It works perfect, you got your product, and I know for a fact it wasn’t broken when we met up because I was using it on the vehicle I was driving. However, how can I prove that? You e-mail me everyday calling me a scammer and I’m not going to e-mail you back because I doubt you have nothing to say but indeed call me a scammer.

Joe007, I know what a scammer is and I know what a thief is. Let me distinguish for you. A thief is one who steals. A scammer is one who takes your money. I did not take your money. First of all, the Escort Passport X50 retails at Best Buy for around $320 or so, it was around 2 months old (2 ½), and you talked me down to $190 for it. I proved and showed to you that it works. And I bet it still works. That thing saved me numerous times driving from Portland to California. And I have been using it on my car everyday. Yes it has the typical scratches from hiding it underneath my car seat to prevent theft. But this item worked perfectly for me and I was surprised when you called me and said it was broken. I do mention that it is “sold as is” on all of my craigslist posts just incase situations like this were to ever arise. I’ve bought and sold hundreds if not thousands of items on Ebay and Craigslist and I’ve never had any problem as a seller. As a buyer that is another story. I was “scammed” in February by a person online who I sent $1,400 to for an engine. Now, he is a “scammer” because he didn’t give me jack squat in return and it was his intentions the whole time to just take my money. As for me? I am no scammer. It was not in my intention to take ANYONE’s money. I had the product in hand and showed you it works in person.

Maybe it was a case of bad luck or something. I swear and give you my word that this item wasn’t broken at all and nothing was wrong with it prior to selling it to you. And honestly, I haven’t been checking my e-mails until Sunday. I just noticed that you started this thread about me from a couple of my H-T buddies and I was surprised. I am a busy person just as I assume most people are. I go on H-T more than I check email because at work I can go on H-T but I can’t check my e-mails. I’m sorry that this happened to you and I honestly tried to get a receipt I just couldn’t find one or get one. I’m only going to be in Oregon for another month and the cash was already used to pay off a Best Buy Credit card.

The only thing I lied to you about was when I told you I needed $190 to pay off the radar detector at Best Buy. I got things mixed up because I was also selling another electronic that I was making payments on and financed it on my best buy credit card. I just sold this so I can pay off that credit card. I honestly don’t know what else to say to you because this is the first time someone has had a problem with something they’ve bought from me. I’ve been scammed and I’ve been stolen from. I got “nothing” out of it. You were not scammed and that’s all I can argue. I can only apologize for the inconvenience.

Yes, you saw this boxed up before we met, but it was used in the car I was driving on my way there. I put everything in the leather box as I was entering the parking lot. It's not hard to put things in a box when you drive an automatic. Call me what you want but everything has been said above.

I appreciate you finally having the decency to respond. I gave you a full 8 days before I posted anything on here. I know you were on the computer and checking your email as you were posting here daily during that time. You've been dodging me, plain and simple. So, like I explained to you in a few emails - you did something wrong, I'm well off enough that it won't hurt me financially, but you knew all along you didn't have the receipt. How about this - you lied to me several times - just like you lied in that thread above trying to promote your own stuff on craigslist. There's no explanation for that. If that doesn't make you a "scammer" then you're just a liar.

Don't worry about it - I don't believe most of your response, but I do appreciate you having the ***** to finally step up and explain yourself. You need the money more than I do. The radar detector itself does work great - and I'll find a way to fix the attachment to the windshield. Next time something like this happens to you, whether it's an innocent mistake or not, don't dodge the guy - call him back, own up to your mistakes and make things right. Don't say you'll mail the receipt when you don't have it. Don't tell the guy you are selling it to pay it off at BestBuy if you got it from some guy in Texas. We could have worked something out if you'd have just responded in the first place.

Good luck.

Joe

Yeah, I confess. I was promoting myself. I did refer to myself in those ads because I wanted to boost my own sales on craigslist, however, I was also trying to hide my identity from some people I dealt with on craigslist whom I discovered were legit scammers and are associated with thiefs. That is my reason behind referring to myself like that. I didn't want the people who knew me from craigslist to know who I am on Honda-Tech because I post things on honda-tech as well and I don't want to deal with any thiefs like that. Joe007, i'm sorry for not responding sooner rather than later and that was a mistake on my behalf. I am just too laid back of a person and I always wait things out before responding to situations which I guess gets me into trouble some times. I'm sorry this situation happened and I appologize. I honestly didn't know how to respond because i've never had this kind of situation before and I didn't want anything to affect my record. That is the absolute truth.

That doesn't really make sense to me why you were trying to hide from craigslist scammers by promoting your stuff on here, but no worries man.

And I think you posted that you did the same thing I did when you got scammed by that guy that took $1400 from you - you emailed him every day, got his identity. Heck, just this morning you were still trying to pay someone to go kick his ***! Just remember how you felt when that happenned - that's how I felt, just not to anywhere near the same magnitude. Communication solves a lot of problems - live and learn I guess.

Take care and good luck - thanks for bringing this to resolution - we're cool.
