Default I need some quick KNOWLEDGE....

Knowledge is power and I have never really known when and why you would need to re-surface a flywheel.

Can you all enlighten me on when this is necessary? I am not sure on that one.

Also, I have never done a tranny/clutch with the engine still in the car.....which mounts need to be taken off and what is the most effective way.

thanks oh and this is being done on a 95 civic ex. d16z6 thanks

Flywheels get resurfaced so everything is even when the clutch comes on.

Rear bracket, upper trans mount, and lower trans mount needs to come off.

if you are putting on a used clutch are there any rules of thumb.....as in; keeping clutch/flywheel/pressure plates together from setup to setup?

Flywheel choice is up to you. Whatever you do, make sure the flywheel is all even (resurfaced)

not to be an *** but if you are pulling out the trans why risk it with a used clutch? a new clutch will break in a little longer but will last longer too, unless its just a get the car to move/money issue then i share the pain i have been there

anyways if you can get your hands on a clutch alighment tool that someone else maybe a friend is dne with itll make the process easier imho

There is still plenty of meat on the clutch I will be swapping in....and its for a buddy of mine whose clutch went out and he doesn't have 600 bucks to throw down to have it replaced so I am helping him out. I have a clutch alignment tool as well.

thanks

You shouldn't have to spend 600.00 on a clutch. Maybe if that includes someone else doing ALL the work and parts.

Stock replacement clutch is 150.00 and resurfacing a flywheel is like 50.00.

3 hours to pull the tranny if your slow and 1 hour to install the clutch if your drunk by that time. Another 2-3 hours to reinstall and your done.

Once I get the bitch pin and axles out which takes about 30-45 minutes then pulling the tranny or motor is only about a 2 hour process at the most.
