Inner tie-rod replacement
What’s up everybody
So, I had my new 225’s mounted last week along with an alignment. The mounting and balancing goes smoothly, but they tell me they can’t align it because the inner tie-rods are shot, which would explain the never ending vibration i've had for a while now between 60 and 70 mph. Then they tell me that the only way to replace the tie rods is to replace the entire steering rack. I find this suspicious and I wanted to get your guys’ feedback before any unnecessary money and time is spent. Thanks in advance.

Nah you can replace them yourself
Get them from world suspension on ebay...they're good quality.
You'll need new boots and I just used zipties for bands, they'll work fine.
Pull the boots off, I forget the size of the notch on the rack, I think its 22mm, but make SURE you hold the rack before loosening the tie rod, there is a huge size spot for a wrench, but its tough to fit one on there, you'll see it.
If you want to keep your alignment you should mark the threads on the outer tie rod where the nut is.
Search my name for the manual rack conversion for pictures

Honestly its not very hard, take the wheels off, jack the car up.
If you turn the wheel all the way to lock for the side you're removing its not hard.
I could do this complete job in about two hours myself with a floor jack and hand tools.

I agree, it really isn't that hard. I did it when I was converting my steering rack to a manual one. It's very simple to do if you have the rack out. It doesn't take much time to drop the rack either, although you do not have to drop the rack to change the inner tie rods.
the wrench flats on the inner tie rod are 36mm...you can use a big adjustable wrench but its probly easier with a 36 wrench just cuz itll fit in there better
you dont really have to hold the rack while loosening, but it is a good idea...we do a lot of tie rods at my work and we never hold it...theres never been a problem

Do you have any type of leaks coming from the rack?? If so then you're better off replacing the whole thing. If not then you can have the inner tie rods replaced seperately as stated ,most shops recommend the whole thing because of money

I have done inners on an accord, and civic, and it was a pita. I would much rather do motor swaps, 5 lung conversions, turbo installs then change inner tie rod ends. the only thing i really hate is putting the new boot on with all the greese in it. I def hate it.
